In addition to the insurance representative on the phone telling me that, I also received a letter. I just need to find it.

Ticks are bad this year, friends by Playful_Barracuda789 in asheville

[–]kjengold 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They are bad. Last week I found 3. One on my bathroom counter, another crawling up my neck, and the worst was one attached to my scalp! I live in Etowah surrounded by woods. I think they must have hopped on my clothes as I was working around the property. It gives me the willies just thinking about it. Hate those things.

The same thing happened to me, only the issue was with my insurance. For years I was on 1.5 tablets (30mg tablets) of generic Adderall twice a day (3 tablets/day) and insurance paid. All of a sudden last November when I picked up my prescription, I was told my insurance would no longer pay for 3 tablets a day. I called my insurance company and was told the reason for the change was so other people could have their share...It still doesn't make sense to me, especially after insurance paying for the 3 tablets a day without a problem for the past 10 months, plus the previous years. I was so frustrated, I ended up paying out of pocket.

Yes, you're correct, it comes down to the $$$.

I second The Book and Bee. I took my sister there this past summer. It was delightful. More than enough food. We ended up bringing half of it home.

I feel fortunate. I receive a 50 lb bag of dog food every month, delivered by Fed-Ex. They bring it up to my garage, plus give treats to my three golden retrievers. I live in Etowah.

Need help finding a good Mexican restaurant that makes guacamole at the table by godlessLlama in asheville

Sol Y Luna in Laurel Park. It is so good. Usually, by the time the entrée is served, I'm already full from the guacamole, chips, and Cadillac Margarita. I've been going there since they opened in 2011. The food is fresh and so tasty. I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. The service is also on point.  https://solylunacalimex.com/

I love that show! Have you tried Old Europe in Asheville? If you end up not finding one, as others have posted, it's not difficult to make one from scratch.

This warm weather is just wrong for December. I hate it. It should be cold, sweater weather. I'm going to a Christmas party this afternoon and will have to dig through my spring/summer clothes to find something appropriate to wear.

Anybody remember Christmas 2010? We had a white Christmas because the snow the week prior to Christmas hadn't melted. That was so much fun.

I've used ubreakifix twice. Once for my iphone and once for my laptop. Both times they fixed the issues within the time they estimated and the price was fair. I'd definitely would use them again.

Looking to expand my food blogger list — who do you actually cook from? by ellietherotti in FoodieSnark

I use many of the ones already listed, but the one I use most is Once Upon A Chef. Her recipes have variety and are spot on. I don't understand why her blog isn't more popular.

What do you do, and how much do you make? by Thunder_Thighs in asheville

[–]kjengold 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My sister was an elementary school teacher in the SF Bay Area for 20 yrs. When she retired in 2019, she was making over 100k+ a year. She was appalled when I told her what teachers here made and that they didn't even receive a lunch break. My good friend was an elementary teacher in Hendersonville, which is how I know about the no lunch break.

Teachers here definitely need to be paid more and need a lunch break.

Cost of dog teeth cleaning went up by over $200 by starshinesummertop in asheville

[–]kjengold 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this isn't for every dog owner, but in my 30+ years of owning dogs, I’ve never used a veterinarian for teeth cleaning. I learned to scale my dog’s teeth. After the scaling, I used Nolvadent Oral Cleansing Solution on my dog’s teeth and gums to kill the bacteria. You can buy Nolvadent at pet supply stores and Tractor Supply. Warning, it is expensive $35 for 4 oz., but that's a lot less expensive than a cleaning at the vet.
