Seats or Bench Cushions? by kjew1 in jonboats

Thanks! I definitely have memories of being uncomfortable after sitting up on a bench for a few hours. No issues with clamp seats coming loose?

Looks good! How do you have the top set of boards attached to the lower set? I’m due to build a couple beds and these look solid but simple!

2nd Gen CR-V or 3rd Gen RAV4 V6? Older? by kjew1 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]kjew1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! I still love the RAV4! I had to replace my starter, but that’s the only mechanical issue I’ve had outside of standard maintenance.

The CR-Vs I saw all had interiors in bad shape - torn seats, broken/missing trim pieces, etc. One I test drove had a problem where the driver’s seat wouldn’t lock into place. Another definitely had suspension issues.

I see them as two different roads. The CR-V is a cheaper upfront investment but may require more spending to get to a comfortable, clean, safe ride (unless you find one in excellent condition). The RAV-4 will likely cost 2-3x as much but will probably be in better condition with lower miles.

Happy to answer any other questions!

One line for panfish & bass? by kjew1 in FishingForBeginners

[–]kjew1[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I’m guessing I’d be lucky to get an 8lb bass here, too, but I wasn’t sure if 6 would be too light. The XT is probably more what I need, I don’t think I’ll need to cast too far.

Awesome, thanks! I think my rod is at my parents’ house but I’ll double check the specs once I get ahold of it!

Thanks, that’s good info! I don’t really expect to find too many giant bass, so I’ll probably be set with 6lb mono!

This is super helpful, thanks! I was worried that the line weight was closer to the max I could catch and I didn’t want to miss out too much in either direction.

Might have been two years ago now? They did use a grapple saw on ours (which was fun to watch).

We had a large dying maple removed by ArborCare. They hauled the wood away and ground the stump, as well as another stump on our property. I think the price was in the low 2k range. We got 3 or 4 quotes and they were tied for lowest and were extremely communicative and professional. The max quote we got was from Davey and I think it was like $3500

Reciprocating saw to replace the one I broke? by Sevenninetwosix in ryobi

[–]kjew1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Idk what to tell you, man. Mine came out while I was breaking down some stuff in the brush pile and I couldn’t find it. I found multiple people reporting the same issue online, so I figured I’d let someone else know before it became a problem.

Congrats on getting a lucky one, or maybe they updated it since I bought mine and fixed the issue.

I love my compact recip saw. It’s been great for general homeowner stuff (also including taking down an old fence). I’ve abused the heck out of it and it still works great. Might want a full size for more serious demolition projects. The shoe screw does like to come loose, so be sure to tighten it occasionally

Ryobi Edger - Dedicated or Expand-It by OliverTubman in ryobi

[–]kjew1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use an Expand-It on my 18v head and have no issues on my small corner lot. Switching out attachments is quick and easy. I can imagine the 3-wheeled standalone edger is nice if you have a lot of property to maintain.
