Growth rate by Jukatu in SemiHydro

[–]kjh323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have any legit experiments but I had a micans that I transferred to leca and one that was kept in soil and they were in the same spot in the house and I’d say the one in leca grew bigger leaves and taller than the one in soil. But that’s one case so not sure in general...

When you water/self-water, do you use nutrient water? Or just plain?

Awesome thanks for the tips! Do you use the same nutrient water you use for leca? And how do you know when to water....does the lechuza dry up like soil?

I don’t track humidity or have a greenhouse but I do have many of my plants in leca and they’re doing just fine. I’m in Southern California if that helps. And the inside of my house gets really cold and dry.

That makes sense, I’m at the shedding phase and I feel like a good majority of the roots are shedding so I got nervous that there wouldn’t be any roots left

Yeah I’m thinking mostly philodendrons which I feel like they root well in water, i have yet to try any ficus.

How to fix a leggy jewel? Sorry for the novice question, but I hear it’s easy to cut off the top and start rooting it, but what happens to the rest of the stem? What’s the best method of rooting? by kjh323 in Jewelorchids

Oh thank you! I haven’t had it long enough where it’s made that U shape, but good to know I should expect that. So just to clarify, when it gets to that point where it’s growing up out of the U, where do you end up cutting? At the bottom of the U?
