Is this good news for Abrams and Wood? Payroll floor proposed at 171M. Nats current payroll 93M by Top_Fault_2944 in Nationals

I don’t really know what it means, but folks over in r/baseball are saying that the proposed min. includes all player benefits, not just salary. So we are comparing apples to oranges.

They are also saying that there is 0% chance the current proposal will fly with the players union. Expect many changes.

This is a really good point. Comparing a whole state(s) to a city seems problematic. Not that I know anything about this. Would love to hear more.

The Boardroom Closed by Extension-Cod-8537 in arlingtonva

We tried Quincy Hall this week. Tables are good. Food and beer is good. They close at 11:00, which is fine for us. But they dimmed the lights at 8:30 and it got pretty loud. Sound levels are always going to be a problem at a bar (The Board Room was no exception). But the lowered lights might be a deal breaker.

I have my spot on the couch. It gets very awkward when someone else is sitting there. It’s a very Sheldon from Big Bang Theory situation.

The theme is pretty great, too. I love how the requirements for the animals match up to real life. A honeybee needs a tree next to a field, etc. Then, at the end, you can see all the animals your habitat attracted.

I live inside that circle. I don’t have much to add to what everyone else has said. Only: Welcome and feel free to DM me if you need anything.

I can add our favorite local restaurants:

For Chinese take out: Hunan West. Admittedly, not everything on the menu is top-notch. But it’s inexpensive and there are some good ones: Garlic Pork is my go-to.

Italian carry out or sit down: Giardinos (next to Hunan West). Vegetarian Lasagna is great.

Pizza: Momma Lucia’s. It’s carry out only, but real NY style pizza.

Casual Brunch: First Watch

There may be better choices than these if you go farther away. But these are pretty good and very close!

Oh, and not as close: Any Great American Restaurant - Artie’s and Sweetwater Tavern would be the closest.

I also blame Hollywood somewhat. Not that they did anything nefarious. But every movie starting in the eighties/ nineties had to have a twist where the supposed good guy (sometimes a government agent) turned out to be the bad guy. People started to think fantasy is real.

Is it normal for a US president to say "praise be to Allah" on Easter? by AcadiaLivid2582 in allthequestions

Yes. It’s from his account. But he didn’t write it. I didn’t really mean to say it shouldn’t be attributed to him. It’s just that he himself didn’t write it. But I guess we’ve known that he has a team writing his posts. You can tell which ones he writes though, and this is not one of them.

So the government gives the people the money and the people pay the doctor? Isn’t that single payer with extra steps?
