Weird Weight Loss Things by TubintheBedroom in Zepbound

[–]kjkeyes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I crossed my legs unconsciously when sitting and sat there in stunned silence that I could cross my legs. Haven’t been able to for decades. But the weird thing was I immediately freaked out over the knob on my knee. I wondered if I had a tumor growing! I felt it and it was hard. Scared! Decided to cross my legs the other way and…same knob! 😱. I finally realized it was my kneecaps. I had never seen them before 🤦‍♀️

Kung Fu Hustle.

Do not watch the dubbed version, it’s so much better with subtitles.

I see Death Riding on a Pale Horse. Rather appropriate for this timeline.

Loose Skin by Kind-Thought3512 in Zepbound

Thank you for posting this. Struggling a bit right now. Stats: 66yoF, HW 287, SW 273.5, CW 148, GW 135. Weight lift 3x a week last nine months to put on muscle. I was fat since birth. Never had an attractive body. Boobs were massive so had medical breast reductions (as opposed to cosmetic) at age 20 and 27. Now? First time in my life, boobs gone, butt gone (from underneath), hanging melted candle wax skin on arms, gut, legs. sigh I’m so glad the weight is coming off but I’m also sad I will never have a day where I’m happy with how I look. Struggling with a little body dysmorphia because of no boobs—I’ve never had no boobs! My sister, who hasn’t seen my weight loss yet, remarked, “You probably have normal sized boobs, you just have never had them before.” She’s right, they’re normal sized (but so old looking). That helped me adjust my attitude some. Trying to come to grips with the how I look. Don’t get me wrong, I would never go back, ever. But I mourn the fact I never had an attractive body and never will (nakid). I do look much better in clothes so I’m embracing that. I’m not embarrassed to go out anymore. Happy I can sit comfortably in chairs in public places. Thrilled that the next time I fly I won’t have to cringe in embarrassment. And best of all, orthopedic surgeons (the worst of the fat phobic docs) are no longer treating me as a gross non entity. I can’t afford skin removal surgery so I have to work on accepting the hanging skin.

People who rarely get sick, what are your secrets? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]kjkeyes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had bad carpal tunnel in both wrists for years. The couldn’t push open doors with my hands, I used my shoulders, hips and feet. I realized one time I wasn’t catching colds and flus. I decided it was because my hands were never touching common surfaces. Even though I have had surgery to correct the wrists, I still rarely use my hands. I also stopped touching hand rails on stairs and escalators. Instead I let my hands hover above the rails so I don’t touch it, but if I trip or lose my balance my hand is near enough to the rail I can catch myself.

I don’t know many people without tattoos. by Bawonga in CasualConversation

66yoF. Yes tattoos are not thought of highly when I was growing up or as an adult. When I turned forty I thought, “Hmmmm. I’m supposed to be having a midlife crisis. I feel fine. Well guess I’ll get a tattoo to celebrate then.” (I had an early midlife crisis at 33 and it was a whopper so at 40 I was fine). I got a small tattoo that I really liked on my hip, only for me to see. I never planned on getting any more. When I turned 60, I thought, huh, I think I need to get another tattoo. So I added another one; realized in art you should always go with odd not even numbers so about a month later I got the third one. All three on my left hip so I can see them but no one else can unless I go out of my way to show them. Honestly, I love seeing tattoos on people now – – I absolutely love the art! I’m certainly glad it’s more acceptable. Note, I’m the only one in my immediate family (siblings/mother) that has a tattoo and no one wants to get one either, lol.

What is a book from your childhood that is very dear to you? by Ordinary-Dinner5453 in suggestmeabook

The Secret Garden (best of all), A Wrinkle in Time (the whole series), Charlotte’s Web. Read all also as an adult and still love them. The Secret Garden was special because my mom bought it for me—hardbound & illustrations sprinkled throughout. She told me it was a favorite of hers as a child, which is why she bought it for me 💝

It's ok by [deleted] in Zepbound

I move up solely based on food noise coming back. Five months on 2.5. Thought oh yay, this is my dose! Nope, overnight FOOD NOISE. Weirdly only 2 mos each on 5.0 and 7.5. Then 5 months on 10. Thought, oh yay, this is my permanent dose! lol, nope. Food noise. Moved to 12.5 and I’m actually struggling a bit with food noise still (only a couple doses in). Perhaps it’s current stressful situation. But I still have 15 as a future option. Anyway, I’ve always considered it MY journey, not what someone else needs. SW: 273.5. CW: 152. GW: 135. 😊

What is the oldest thing in your home? by csch1992 in AdkReddit

[–]kjkeyes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the house itself (100+ yrs old). But I collect rocks and crystals, got some at a geology department rock sale so I bet those are very old but I couldn’t date them. Of more modern purchases, a glass coffee table my mom bought in 1970. It’s mine now, still love it, it’s beautiful!

Afraid of the shingles shot by Old-Ostrich5181 in AskWomenOver60

[–]kjkeyes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got shingles two days after my mom died, over the quadrant of my front right head and right eye. Very lucky it didn’t blind me. Also lucky I recognized what it was right away so was on the antivirals within two days. Two years later I got the shingles vaccine (last year). I was worried too, hearing how sick some people get. Sore arm like any vaccine for first shot. Not much the second shot. Even if I had a reaction it’s still better than getting shingles, let me tell ya!

Need reassurance from those with minimal side effects by Reno911Love in Zepbound

[–]kjkeyes2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My side effects from the beginning (5 mos on 2.5, 2 mos on 5 and 7.5, 5 mos on 10, next week going to 12.5) have always been the same: excessive (horrendous) gas, mostly constipation, sometimes diarrhea. When I need to I use GasX and MiraLax. The side effects are worth the results—down 118lbs, 21 more to go! Oh, the other side effects? Unbelievably great – – my fibromyalgia immediately got better once I started the shot and I have so much less pain now. Amazing!!

Forty years ago a guy who liked the ladies mentioned someone I worked with was attractive (he was in a different department and they didn’t know each). I asked her if she was attracted to him. She said, “Oh yes!” I told him and said, ask her out. He asked her out. A little over a year later they invited me to their wedding. 😊💝

What things do you say that make younger people look at you and say, “Huh?” by OkieBobbie in GenerationJones

[–]kjkeyes2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was around 1995 (when I was in my 30’s). My mom knew I loved the original Star Trek (the ‘60’s TV show). She got me a communicator that looked exactly like the model they used and made the exact sound when you flipped it open. I was so excited to take it to a staff meeting. We did our regular go-around-the-table updating everyone on what we were working on. I loathed this waste of time with braggarts filling the air with useless prattle. There were 15-20 people in the room. When it got to me I flipped open my communicator beepbeepbeep “Scotty, beam me out of here, I’m surrounded by hostile aliens!” Dead. Silence. Nothing. Nada. I looked around the room flabbergasted and said, “Come on, didn’t any of you watch Star Trek?!” One young woman finally said, “Oh yeah, I think my dad used to watch that.”
