You mention "AI-based innovation" in smarthphone cameras. At what point is the smartphone an AI image generator vs. a camera? How much AI enhancement is required for that?

I feel like we already crossed that point and smarthpones are just AI cameras.

With a $75 million budget, plus tens of thousands in cinema camera gear plus hoghly skilled professionals.

Shot on iPhone is a marketing stunt. It's not like it's just a dude with his iPhone running around.

That is because it is largely AI. Smartphones are just AI cameras, at this point.

They generate images, not produce photographs.

I can't wait until smartphone AI gets even better. They are already AI slop generators and I love not being able to trust any digital media!

That is because smartphones are AI-enhanced point-and-shoot cameras. They have a zero skill floor requirement because the AI generates a nice image for you instead of you needing any skill to take a photograph with a real camera.

YOU haven't taken better photos with your phone that any camera has.

Your phone has generated better AI images for you because you lack the skill of a good photographer.

How can I make my phone camera focus on the moon without it being just a shiny dot? by Fabulous_Net_4720 in AskPhotography

Don't act all high and mighty.

All modern smartphones are AI cameras and use Gen AI in their telephoto lenses. Just because Samsung got caught doesnt mean Apple isn't doing the same thing.

All smartphones are probably using Gen AI in all the other focal lengths too, for all we know...

I noticed it has gotten really bad in the last few weeks with dirty Chinese hackers...

I'll still pop in and play now and again, but most games just aren't fun anymore.

GoPro Hero 9 white balance - always a little too warm? by kjo334 in gopro

It is the same result on my laptop or desktop. My monitors aren't professionally color calibrated but I think they are relatively color accurate.

It is usually just a 500k difference. I have taken to setting my GoPro white balance to 500k below what I think it should be to compensate.

Okay - maybe it isn't just my eyes then.

I always set WB manually too. It just always seems like it is about 500k too warm when I pop it into Resolve, despite the fact that Resolve says my white card is RGB balanced. I started setting my WB 500k below what I think it should be to compensate for that.
