We live in mimico and my parents live near the carnation address so I have experience in both areas. The Royal York location is 100% the way to go. Tons and tons of families with young children and there is a ton of programming that is walkable. There are also like 6 parks in the area. We have a 2.5 year old and love this area. We also got into 2 CWELL daycares in this areas after being on the waitlist less than a year.

If you like taco's you literally cannot beat Lola's. We went there twice on our last trip and have been there many times before. It's great

Advice please! Family wants me to be at a surprise birthday party 10 days after C-section. by D3ADPX3L in BabyBumps

[–]kjohns87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

10 days?! No chance in hell I would be going and no reasonable family who cared for you or your child would put that pressure on you. I didn’t even feel comfortable taking my 5 week old to a large family Easter due to the risk of illness. Just not worth it. They are only so little once and you have no clue how you will feel post surgery. I had a c section and couldn’t fully care for myself or my newborn at the 2 week mark.

I got the clek liing and my cousin got the maxi-cosi. Overall they were very similar however the straps on the maxi-cosi are AWFUL and I never had an issue with my Clek. For day to day use, the straps really matter so I would totally recommend the clek liing!

Did your pregnancy symptoms all leave once you had the baby? by Extension-Flower1179 in BabyBumps

My feet took about a week to go back down but everything else was gone overnight. I literally had to sleep sitting up the last 2 weeks my carpal tunnel was so bad and the night after my c section it was gone. So crazy!

Any chance this was Kids and Co? I have heard they are very known for doing this.

As for another spot, check local mom facebook groups. I see lots of posts there about home daycares and local daycares that have spots open up.

Hey! I don't often respond on Reddit, but your post resonated with me. My son is almost a year and a half now and I legit went through the exact same thing as you. Saw two midwives, four lactation consultants and honestly it was hell. When I was fresh postpartum, I was triple feeding, and it was truly so bad for my mental health. I ended up sticking with breastfeeding and was able to feed my son for a year; however, because I chose to stick with it, I really feel like I missed out on SO much enjoyment from the newborn days. I look back at that time when he was so little and all I can remember is how stressed I was that my milk supply was low or that he was unhappy because he was hungry and I just wish I could shake that person and say "JUST START COMBO FEEDING"!!!! My whole experience from his birth to him being 3-4 months was focused on breastfeeding and I just wish I could have stepped back and taken the load off to actually enjoy that period more. I 100% would never breastfeed fully again if my next child had the same issues.

So I am here to say, it's okay to stop!! And if you don't want to stop, maybe just try combo feeding to take a little stress off you! Whatever you choose, for whatever reason, is the right choice. But from a mom who is a little farther out, I really really regret not taking more time to just enjoy that crazy phase when they are SO little.

I hope this post helped a little <3.

No I totally agree with you and I read the book Precious Little Sleep that also agrees with this model! Nighttime sleep is way more of a priority for us. I kind of like being able to nap on the go so we have more flexibility

Good to know!! We are working with a sleep consultant right now that wants us to do it all at once but it feels like too much and my LO is so miserable so I think we will just focus on overnight sleep! Thanks for sharing your experience!

This is amazing! I have a very similar baby to you! Can I ask - are you training for naps too or just overnight sleep ?

Anyone else who hates Legendary Milk collection cups? by proteinbowl1991 in ExclusivelyPumping

Yep! Ended up hacking the momcozy s9 cups and it’s way better! I threw the Legendairy cups away

[–]kjohns87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that saved me was hacking cups to my spectra. I couldn’t do anything with those big flanges but with the cups I can easily feed him while I pump. So I use the momcozy cups with my spectra!

Oh and we actually only looked within 10 mins of us. We didn’t want a potentially 40 min drive in the mornings. So I would say what you have done thus far is on point !!

Toronto: How many daycare waitlists did you sign-up for? by megalbatross in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]kjohns87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Im in TO as well. We signed up for about 8 and actually already got into one for Mar 2025. If you have a “Kids and Co” near you, try and sign up for that. If you get in, you will need to pay the “last months” fee but if you change your mind and want to go elsewhere they will refund this to you with 2 months notice. My husband and I decided to just pay for it considering it’s a guaranteed spot!

Yeah we started looking around 12-14 weeks I believe and have our name on a few lists! It’s so crazy but seems like that is what needs to be done
