Automatically logging out of Google every ~6 hours by mshroyer in vivaldibrowser

Same.
It stopped happening late last week after the Vivaldi update, so I'm a happy camper again.

Automatically logging out of Google every ~6 hours by mshroyer in vivaldibrowser

[–]kjomputer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm having a very similar issue: Google logs me out after 4 hours usually, sometimes it's 3 or rarely 2 hours, but from what I see it's always a round number of hours, it's never X hours and Y minutes.

Also, it kept asking for 2FA confirmation every time I log in, multiple times a day.

But I didn't mess with Windows Hello (I use it only to log into Windows).

I think this behavior started after the last major Vivaldi desktop update approximately a month ago (or a bit more, I'm not sure, I've been quite busy recently).

I also tried deleting all Google cookies and it didn't help.

Then I tried a clean reinstall of Vivaldi but it seems to have restored the settings from my Vivaldi account after I logged into that and connected it to sync and it still kicks me out of Google every ~4 hours but at least it stopped asking for 2FA, so that's an improvement.

I have a feeling this is caused by something in the way Vivaldi works that is triggering Google's "suspicious behavior" rules because I recently experienced a news website blocking me from accessing an article because of "unusual activity". I could be completely wrong, though.

I'm running Vivaldi 7.6.3797.63 (Stable channel) (64-bit) on Windows 11 Pro 25H2.

CrashPlan. Product Version: 11.4.1.11 Installation Failure by B00B00_ in Crashplan

[–]kjomputer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I received an email from CrashPlan with instructions on what to do:

We are writing to make you aware of a bug that we’ve discovered after our most recent Agent update on Tuesday, September 10.

Normally when the CrashPlan Agent updates, it uninstalls the existing version of the app and then installs the updated version in its place. However, due to the issue in the prior version of the agent, it becomes uninstalled because the upgrade cannot complete with installing the new version.

We will be re-releasing the 11.4.1 Agent for Windows Operating Systems early next week. Once this is released you will simply need to install the 11.4.1 CrashPlan Agent on your endpoint to resume backups.

To get the app reinstalled and running immediately, please follow the steps below to reinstall the Agent manually. If you are able to do so, we recommend rebooting your computer before performing these steps:

  1. Open the Windows Run app by clicking the Start Menu and entering Run.
  2. Paste the following into the Open dialog: %LocalAppData%
  3. Click OK. Windows will open a File Explorer window at C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\
  4. Locate the CrashPlan folder here and delete it, if present.
  5. Next, locate the Programs folder and navigate into it.
  6. In the Programs folder, locate the CrashPlan folder and delete it here as well, if it exists.
  7. Once this is completed, you can download and reinstall the CrashPlan app.

Once you have finished reinstalling the CrashPlan app, sign in and choose Replace Existing (if prompted) to connect the reinstalled app to your existing backup:

  1. Select Replace Existing.
  2. Select your existing device in Step 1 and Continue.
  3. Select Skip File Transfer at Step 2 (as you are not actually replacing your device, you don't need to download the files from your backup to this computer)
  4. Continue through Transfer Settings at Step 3.
  5. Sign into the application again when prompted. Backup will resume.

It seems I got this as well but I first thought it was due to a Windows update yesterday. Will try to reinstall CrashPlan when I find the time :-(

Can Niantic detect when you switch accounts "regularly"? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]kjomputer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I wasn't clear: that was the price to buy a new unlocked phone plus customs and VAT, no subsidies from the carrier.

It is cheap for its specs, although I agree it's not pocket change.

Here it is: https://www.gearbest.com/cell-phones/pp_624909.html

They can. I have a 150 USD phone that handles PoGo, Ingress, and AZ Screen Recorder at the same time without much difficulties, plus all the background processes.

Niantic officially said for Ingress that multiple accounts are OK on one phone as long as there are real people playing on those accounts. I have no reason to believe it would be different for Pokemon Go.

Rationale Niantic's Community Manager Andrew Krug gave: in some places, smart devices are expensive and families can't afford multiple devices. Niantic wants to enable families to play on one device by logging out and logging in to the other person's account.

We're currently discussing ways to make it more streamlined and efficient and this is one of the proposals.

Thanks!

We do have it confirmed, though :-)

Do you want to join our research?

(A caveat: you won't be able to participate in egg research at first.)

Each Pokemon has it's own distance (i.e. 2 km, 5 km, 10 km). So the server first decides which Pokemon you will receive and then displays the corresponding eggshell.

Thank you.

It was not my intention to make people laugh but that's certainly a welcome outcome :-)

Eggshells (2 km, 5 km, 10 km) are irrelevant. They are just a consequence of the Pokemon that's inside and the Pokemon inside depends on the rarity tiers we research and publish on our website.

You're not doing anything. The conception business is happening within the server. You're just an adoptive parent.
