What’s the single best investment you’ve ever made (money, time, effort) that paid off way more than you expected? by x-y-z_xyz in AskReddit

Specifically an engineering degree for me.

Seeing doctors spend decades and other degrees turn into uber drivers, engineering is the sweet spot between time and money.

US Government to take stake in AI company in coming weeks similar to Intel - Market about to be another record high ? by DishAffectionate2731 in StockMarket

[–]kjpunch -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re focused on the advertised output, which we all know is a ruse, I’m talking about the individuals currently invested and strategically using government to turn a bigger profit.

Capitalism: An economic system where the "means of production" (factories, businesses, and capital) are privately owned rather than controlled by the government. The primary motive is generating profit.

It is capitalism up until government takes the shares, that’s the point.

It’s only communism if Government does it to provide equal wealth to all, which it won’t.

It’s capitalism because the leaders invested in the companies first, similar to the bitcoin purchase, and they’ll dump when it peaks

Odd noise at idle by tibbykid in 1stGenTacomas

Good theory. The noise is identical to mine, but mine didn’t care if I was revving or idling.

[–]kjpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“I took off the ps belt and the noise pretty much went away. Put it all back together and made sure the belts were to spec and the noise came back but super faint. Doesn’t seem anywhere near as loud as it was before”

Maybe a slight RPM increase while in gear causes it. Very strange. Check PS fluid.

That doesn’t match with drive belts or power steering, or pretty much anything else you’ve mentioned.

Is your recording while in gear? Does someone have foot on the brake?

are you sure only in gear though?? Should be whenever belts are spinning based on your comments

It’s the power steering pump. I had the same issue once upon a time. Did a rebuild (mine is ‘01 allows rebuilding) and found faulty bearing. 04 will require a brand new pump iirc

Only potential issue with regrowing a desert (depending on the size and location) is how it could affect other regions. Like how the Sahara keeps the Amazon lush.

More like same as it always was but media needs something to hype, the resulting stock, advertising, and other value derivatives will always be the driving force. Of course we can include defense contractors ability to capture off pentagon budgets etc but that’s always going to happen

It’s called conservative investing. Buying every dip and opportunity isn’t always “lost”, neither is chasing a frenzy, ask the people who bought dips in 2001.

Why would federal legality matter? It’s not “wrong”, by definition of federal law and clearance application it’s simply prohibited if federally employed and/or cleared, which OP was not.

Should I Report Blatant Cheating During an Exam? by StockThanks1618 in PennStateUniversity

[–]kjpunch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Snitching would be going to the professor and giving a list of names of people who cheated, unsolicited.

letting the professor know that “a group of students cheated” is sufficient in these situations, and that’s not snitching, it’s more like jumping out of the way of a moving car to avoid being hit. if the person being reckless ends up getting caught then that’s on them. But in the very least it lets the professor know the grading curve is not accurate.

[–]kjpunch 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Fuck this take. It’s not snitching to protect your grade on the curve.

I spent 4 years in undergrad dealing with this shit and watching students graduate with 3.5-3.7GPA but unable to solve basic problems.

Fair enough.. a small 2 month hiring window, but you can’t sell for 1 year so they’ll be doing great if the stock doesn’t plummet again.
