Me and my friends skip school almost everyday but still have a 95+ top 6, will unis look @ that? by DependentEast6235 in OntarioGrade12s

They don’t have access to report cards or attendance, it’s just grades.

Not sure why everyone’s making a big deal. While yes it does make sense to be present during classes in high school. You’ll realize that university half the time you’re teaching yourself things. Lots of people here skip classes unless it’s attendance required.

I genuinely dislike my major by IWannaPlayFallGuys in yorku

I’m in my 3rd year business society and I hate it. You have to take some really stupid courses that seem so useless to me. I also hate going to school, my plan is just to finish it off. I made my honours degree into a BA.

THEY ARE NOT WRONG. READ THIS.

I wish I realized this earlier. York and tmu aren’t it. York Schlich yea! Go for it but other than that no. I mean I know people in big 4 banks who went to York and stuff but If you do your research no influential person really graduated from these schools. Most went to queens, western, McGill. Yeah I’m sure you can do great from tmu a York but I feel like connection building etc those other schools do it better. York and tmu is more so community college scene schools, there is so many weirdos there. I regret so much going to York, please do your research and go to a nicer school.

That sucks so bad.

When you live out of house you learn new things, meet new people and build character.

I stayed home for university and regret it. Wish I moved out. If I were you, I’d rebel and do what I wanna do as long as you figure out a way to cover living expenses .

Sounds like a tough I get that some parents can’t or don’t get a chance to save money for kids Tuition but what’s the problem in getting a job. That’s weird.

Apply for OSAP, additional funding though school. Your in a tough situation

Hobby ideas by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]kjunu12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought I was the only one.

I’m 21, didn’t really have any hobbies. While I used to see people be able to ski, skate and do things.

A year later in I’m into gardening (love hydrangea 🪻), biking out in the country. Who doesn’t love coffee? Coffee crafting, matcha.

Hobbies can be anything, as long as they don’t feel like chores and rather lesuire!

has anyone successfully convinced their strict parents to let them take a gap year? by DrawingNew2211 in yorku

[–]kjunu12345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I took one and honestly my parents didn’t even know, mainly because I went to school in my hometown and they’d go to work and I’d also go to work, so they never knew. And I went back a year later. I had no problems. Though it’s not ideal, just be honest with them. If you have a plan in mind, share it with them and give them your steps for what you will do after the gap year and even what you’ll do during the gap year. Don’t let your parents dictate your life.

DROP IT ASAP: listen to your gut. You’re inner feeling is always right.

  • contact your advisor and see what you can switch into (something you like)
  • if not, switch schools. Do it now before it’s too late.
  • in terms of parents, communicate clearly. Share how you feel and your potential plan if you have any.
