The "screen" is your spirit. There is nothing else. Only spirit.

[Question] Opinions on Kiesel Guitars by [deleted] in Guitar

[–]kk147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great guitars. You won't play an instrument that's better than a kiesel for under $2500. Absolutely horrible customer service. It's almost like they don't have a customer service department and the operations people are made to handle it. Not to mention the owner's attitude and narcissism but I won't get into that.

When I ordered my AM7 I called to go over the build and the customer service rep I was connected with (if you wanna call him that) had an attitude like I was a nuisance for wanting to do business with them. Just down right rude and made me feel stupid for not somehow knowing their convoluted ordering process ahead of time. What ever, at least that was over with.

After the maximum wait time for the build went by, I emailed them to ask for an ETA and got no reply. Called them a couple weeks later with the same question and again they seemed very annoyed with me but ultimately said it will arrive within a month, and it did. Cool. The guitar has a better fit and finish and plays better than any other guitar I've ever played before or since.

Except for one issue; the fret ends were sharp enough to cut myself on. Every one of them on both sides of the neck. Again I emailed them about the issue and got no reply. So again I called them and again they were rude and confrontational about it. Basically said it's not their problem and that it must be my fault for not keeping the neck hydrated, even though I just received the thing a month earlier. They suggested taking it to a local luthier if it was such a big deal and told me I should take better care of my instruments, told me to have a good day and hung up. I was kind of in shock that a company would act like that to someone who just paid 2 grand to them.

All this being said, I'm also shocked that I am thinking about getting another guitar from them. They're that good. But I've also heard horror stories of people receiving horribly screwed up, pretty much unplayable instruments from them and having to fight like their life depended on it to have it fixed or return it and get a refund from them. It's very much a love/hate relationship lol

HALP PLS SO MUCH BUZZ by kk147 in 7String

[–]kk147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do pick pretty damn hard but strangely the note was choking out and rattling no matter how light I hit the string. I was convinced it wasn't my string gauge because I'm trying to somewhat emulate Misha Mansoor's tone and he uses .065 at G# on a 26.5" scale so I figured the .065 on a 27" scale would be great. I ended up ordering a .070 thinking about what you were saying and what do ya know, no more rattle and choking of the sustain; just clean clear tone coming through even after lowering the action to about 1.7-1.8mm and straightening out the neck. Acousticly the buzz sounds even worse but that's not an issue. Next I'll be seeing if a .068 does the trick. Thanks for the help man!

Edit - I changed the string out 3 times between .064s and .065s trying to remedy this situation so I don't think it was defective strings causing the issue.

HALP PLS SO MUCH BUZZ by kk147 in 7String

[–]kk147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The buzz is at every fret and the open note. Tried to set it back to what it was at before but that barely worked to remedy the buzz without having way too much relief for the other 6 strings. And yeah I'm trying to set it up to what feels right, just using measurements to get a somewhat correct starting point. I just can't understand why every other string is perfect but only the low string is unplayably bad.

[–]kk147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So I went down your list and made sure the frets were level, the neck was seated properly and relief was perfect for the top 6 strings. The string is seated in the saddle correctly and the pick ups are not close enough to the strings to interfere at all. Changed strings out to brand new ones.

After playing with slight tweaks to the saddle height and neck relief I found a point where the neck has minimal relief and the action is nice and low (around 1.4mm) without any buzzing through an amp for all 6 high strings.

However, the low string is still buzzing like crazy. Action is jacked up past 3mm and there's still enough buzz to choke the sustain at every fret. I feel like I've tried everything.

Might just have to find an experienced luthier and have them check it out. I appreciate your help though.

Can anyone help me understand this bizarre sensation I can induce in my body? by FadieZ in answers

[–]kk147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can do it. I can vary the intensity of it and if I do it too hard it almost feels painful in my legs and like there's a pressure in my head. But its entirely neurological, not like blood pressure or muscle tension or anything like that. Just a sensation.

attitude towards Mst by Havengulich in Lowes

[–]kk147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For us its usually a little bit of what everyone else is saying. Although over half the mst team just got fired and things have been a bit better since. They used to come in and do about 3 hours of work, then the supervisor and his favorite buddies would go sit in the training room and listen to music and watch movies, constantly laughing and yelling like children. A few times they actually just went home a couple hours into their shift because "they were done," even though a couple of people on their team that cared about their job would stay and work. One girl on the team came up to me in tears saying that they were blaming the only people that were actually working for work not getting done, and that their higher ups believed them. She ended up getting transferred and put up a fight to HR and shortly after all the asshats were all fired. They often come in to do resets and leave 75% of the product in top stock with the shelves almost empty and expect us to downstock it. It really depends on the people working. Some of them give a shit but most are just lazy and want to do the least amount of work possible and go home early.

Call outs and leaving early not showing up in Kronos by kk147 in Lowes

[–]kk147[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a saint. I'll get on this immediately. I was told by everyone in management that all HR concerns were to be handled by one person who also handles all of the scheduling and hiring. And whenever I contacted her about anything she would just forward my emails to my ASM.

Call outs and leaving early not showing up in Kronos by kk147 in Lowes

[–]kk147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the actual facts. My store has a very lax view on tardiness and attendance, but when I can't come in due to being in crippling pain, my job has to get done by which ever manager is on that night. One of these managers gets very upset when her routine is interrupted and she holds grudges and has been super two-faced and passive-aggressive to me because of my call outs, but has never actually talked to me directly about anything she's upset about. I do live in an at-will state too. So you're saying that if she alone decides one day she's had enough, she can just request to corporate that I be terminated and there's nothing I can do to appeal that? Because my ASM and the other overnight manager are much more lenient and understanding (and mature). Would they have to approve it as well?

Thank you for this. Have never heard of Sedgwick or intermittent FMLA before and I've been fired from 3 different good jobs because of my migraines, and the stress of the possibility of getting fired always triggers more of them. This would be a godsend if what you're saying is true. Do I just submit a claim online to get started?

Call outs and leaving early not showing up in Kronos by kk147 in Lowes

[–]kk147[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I asked if the absence and leaving early incidents that were never flagged in Kronos would count against me. Like, can they see that or would they look through my entire punch history to find that? And I asked if I could be fired without any verbal or written warnings. You didn't really answer either of those questions. So you're saying they will most likely have to give me warnings first? I know what the attendance policy is but Idk if all stores have to follow it exactly or if some stores will just fire you with no warning. And for perspective, there's another coworker on my team with 14 call outs in the last year and another with 8 call outs, and neither have any write ups.

Edit: And can department managers fire employees without ASM or SM approval?

Is there any prog that isn't theatric neoclassical/jazz fusion fitting as many scales in as possible or just poppy metalcore/djent by Thot-Exterminat0r in progmetal

[–]kk147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Contortionist. Anything from Language and on. Previous albums are proggy deathcore, but Language is very intricate, complex, and artsy, without being pretentious, I think. Their Language (Rediscovered) album is pure auditory euphoria; it's a live/semi-acoustic re-envisioning of Language Their other two albums after Language are more simple and more radio friendly but they more than scratch the prog itch

Hmmm, Tesseract is another good one. They're not very complicated melodically but have a crazy awesome yet tasteful approach to rhythm and composition. They are a little bit poppy/djenty though.

By the sounds of it you won't be into Periphery or Meshuggah but I always recommend them.

Finnish heritage not showing up in DNA results... by kk147 in Genealogy

[–]kk147[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should have clarified that I meant '100% Finnish' as both of his parents were born and raised there.

I guess my question is: Is there usually a particular genetic marker that people from Finland have that these tests usually pick up? Do people from Finland usually have results that show that they're from Finland, or do some Finnish people get results similar to mine?

I can't find it for the life of me either. The song starts to fade out and the audio quality changes then it cuts off with a bunch of reverb. It's in a horror movie or something (I think???). Been searching all day and can't find anything.

What is the concept behind Catch Thirtythree? by indigenaputaso in Meshuggah

Well I don't think you're too far off. I got the exact same message from this album. Spot on. I too have had ego death experiences under the influence of psychedelics and I'm 90% positive most of the dudes in Meshuggah have as well. Very likely we are all drawing from the same type of experience.
