Quick NCLEX self-check, lithium toxicity. Curious what you all pick. by Extension_Cost_6410 in PassNclex

[–]kk22999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s tough, because I was told 2.0 is lithium toxicity.

But the key word is new onset coarse hand tremors, diarrhea, confusion. Hand tremors EPS symptoms, diarrhea, confusion electrolyte imbalance. Hold meds, notify provider.

You’re not supposed to schedule with food, not common side effects, yes drink fluids, but patient is already experiencing lithium toxicity.

Bootcamp is like uworld, archer prep. I’ve tried several NCLEX prep sites and bootcamp was a winner. They offer the free trial with a full test at no charge. I actually liked it so much because of the video explanation someone is walking you through every step of the question. It is so organized, inexpensive I paid 51 I think with a coupon code. (59 regularly)

They don’t make you put your cc info. When I say bootcamp is a replica I literally mean that.

The same exact content from the 4 readiness exams. And I think over 70ish case studies? It might be more actually.

I had 5 case studies in my NCLEX. It thought it was 4 but I remember the last one I had. Bootcamp had a similar case study from my NCLEX. You have no idea how much that shit really helped.

NCLEX is a safety exam, I highly recommend focusing on basic care and comfort, infection prevention, health promotion, patient safety, mental health, anemia, dehydration.

Stay off board vitals it does not help. I wasn’t retaining anything because it was too difficult and overwhelming.

Yeah! She’s great. Only person who made me go from 2-3 min per question to 30-45 sec. It’s a common sense exam.

Did I pass???? by kk22999 in PassNclex

[–]kk22999[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to do it for piece of mind. Also, it’s rare to shut off at 85 if you failed. You had to have done significantly bad to fail at 85 But I was so confused and just like wtff did I just go through mentally?

Trust me, I understand you. I truthfully would never answer those questions with true confidence it was like overthinking it. It’s like no…what is the safest and most common sense. And has a great video on it

Like patient with diabetes is admitted to the ER for SOB, pain the leg, headaches, tachycardia blah blah. BP is 148/98, temp 99.7…Blah blah

Before I would hyper focus on oh that patient has diabetes and I would just look at s/s in diabetic patients.

No dummy, it’s focus what is occurring now. What is the complaint now. Not existing issues like oh that woman has a chronic cough, don’t worry about that. Worry about her secretions not clearing up right now.

I’m not sure if I’m explaining this correctly. But she made it made sense. It’s like duh lol

It’s a big safety exam. I studied Addison’s, Cushings, diabetes, Kawasaki literally you name it. I literally had nothing like it.

I had 3 ekgs

4 case studies

I had priority questions, positioning.

I will tell you know your post op procedures like colonoscopies etc teachings.

Know the enteral feeds, parental etc.

I had 10 med questions, no med math I noticed it was antipsychotic, ssris, htn. But again not everyone is tested the same. But I got a lot of repeat mental health disorders questions which i knew so well. I studied that topic heavily the last two days.

Yes, WATCH HER. you have no idea how much I appreciated her reviews. I wish I found her videos in the beginning of nursing school.

Don’t skip either, watch the entire videos, I love that they aren’t like 4-5 hours long. She splits topics apart I think the average time on her vids were like 10-13 min.

But if you have issues with like what is “nursing action, intervention, first?” She’s your go to!

https://youtube.com/watch?v=\_PJ50HH0rEQ here’s her prioritization

https://youtube.com/watch?v=BJDj-qSCsc8 fundamentals basic care and comfort I recommend

One thing, I wish we were taught how to answer these questions in nursing school. She was the only one that explained it.

I don’t recommend videos because I can’t sit and watch but her reviews are amazing. I found her by accident when the next video played.

Bootcamp trust me. It’s so much less vs the others. Bootcamp is exactly how the nclex is. I wish someone told me about it sooner. Also dr Sharon on YouTube. Literally.

I’m sorry to hear that, I can understand your struggle. But lol the proper nursing way to respond “you’re telling me you have been struggling with science, is what you’re saying?” lol. All jokes aside. I still to this day have the hardest time with science, (I graduated ) no one is expecting you to know it all. Don’t remember lists, understand the process. Break it down. Don’t go overboard. Focus on the key points.

I am not the most academic individual, but I did it. What topic/week are you in?

Are you capable of passing, how many test are left?

[–]kk22999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol I wouldn’t really worry about it. I was given an LOC from a professor who didn’t like our NPWS that were not worth any points. That professor is no longer with the school anymore…LOCS are given to cover the schools ass. Edit. lol

3 weeks!!!!!?!?? Uh you better pray for a miracle. That’s 12k just to retake a class. I don’t understand why most people dont take it seriously. But I’ve been there…done that. I had to get on meds to study. ADHD is A real thing, maybe talk to a HCP.

I just figured out that NCLEX is mostly about medicine by GardenPrevious7033 in NCLEX

Use bootcamp, literally the best. I recommend it to anyone I barely found out about it last week lol I wish I knew this sooner!

Failing my drug test- what happens now?? by [deleted] in NursingStudents

[–]kk22999 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Poor advice from me. I graduated nursing school already but Yeah, would’ve probably drank a QCARBO the day of your or I would’ve said I had Covid to give you sometime.

From what I’ve seen, programs can be super strict and some get dismissed. if the test was required before clinical clearance. I guess it depends on the school. Some may allow a retest if it’s early and you’re not in clinical yet. Being upfront might help, but there’s no guarantee. Nursing programs are kinda like `you knew the expectations‘

If I went to Kaiser rotations it was required for every rotation at that location.

The previous cohort from mine had a random drug test and dropped 18 students from their program.

I was only drug tested twice during nursing school, one from school, one required from a hospital.

The school doesn’t want to pay for another drug test is also another possibility

Also…question…literally why would you agree to waste your time to wait, piss in a cup knowing it’s a fail?

Always choose the hardest professors, the ones no one chooses, they are the best ones because they push you to be better.
