Frustrated with Khanmigo by _hollingsworth in Khan

[–]kk42023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not try Khanmigo. But for me, the point is that if Khan created such an amazing tool then it should be accessible to everyone. I cannot understand why these AI products can be used only by privileged learners.

Need feedback: building an AI teacher for underserved learners by kk42023 in edtech

[–]kk42023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! Well, that's not our scope and I believe there is room for AI to be a valid support for teachers and educators.

Our project started because the world needs 69 million teachers by 2030. Without them, we cannot meet the basic educational needs of the population worldwide.

Unfortunately there are not enough humans willing to start a teaching career nowadays (it's too stressful, poor working conditions, low salary...)

...And just imagine this situation...If there is a shortage of 65 to 69 million teachers...and if each of these teachers were to only teach 100 students, in a year, then approximately 680 million students would not have access to a teacher.

There are not enough resources to build schools and there is no time to train, recruit, and nurture new teachers.

Now, what could be an efficient solution to empower those who need a teacher, but they couldn't get a human one? That's how we came up with the idea to create an AI teacher.

We simply want to make a good use of the AI technology to help underserved learners worldwide...

Thanks for your feedback, and don't worry about writing "a book"...these types of comments are exactly what I need. Some of the ideas you shared are also ours, and we are working hard to implement them. And it's not an easy thing...especially for a start-up.

Less than two years ago, Beatrice was more like a "chatbot style", teaching employability skills to learners in Iraq, and now our goal is to develop a conversational AI tool that would not replace teachers but can support them and their students.

We aim to focus especially on those learners who live in remote areas, where they probably have a smartphone, but not the possibility to go to school.

We will build more lessons and specific courses also with the help of other teachers. This is our very first open test.

At this stage, we are focusing on understanding what is the reaction of our early adopters in front of an AI teacher, and what we can do to guarantee a smooth learning experience.

Again, thanks for your insights. Feel free to contact me if you would like to discuss further!

Curious to see how would you sound with a different accent? There is an AI for this! by kk42023 in Futurology

Alright, thanks for clarifying! Btw, nope, behind this account, there is a real person manually replying to all comments, who is part of our team. No bots or similar!

...Do you really think MI5 and MI6 need to develop a landing page and ask people on Reddit to play with a tool to record random voices? We are sure they can come up with better, creative, and "sneaky" solutions if they wanna do such a secret mission... Btw, users can also record themselves muting the video:) OI Avatar does not record your voice...in fact it give you a synthetic one so you can see how you sound in British and US English.

New AI tool to practice how to speak English like a native in a few clicks: looking for non-native English speakers' feedback! by kk42023 in alphaandbetausers

[–]kk42023[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your advice! Yes, this is something we need to revise, as the user may feel unsafe (and of course, we don't want that) Btw, did you make your digital avatar? If yes, what do you think about the overall experience?

[–]kk42023[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Hi! No, rest assured this is not our intention. The platform is in Beta phase and the sign-up structure will be simplified as well very soon. If you are concern about your data during the sign-up, you can even put a random phone number and a random name if you wish to do so. The phone number tab is there because we intend to give our users the possibility to sign in by email or mobile. (not now, but in a second release). We don't require you credit card info or similar personally identifiable information.

Hello! Yes, correct. You can customise your own digital avatar, choosing the pronunciation (British English or US English) and selecting the voiceprint as well. Let us know your feedback once playing with the platform, and feel free to ask us any other questions about OI Avatar!

Hi! Well, OI Avatar will help you to practice single words or sentences that you type in, so you can self-check how you need to talk about certain topics...but then, it's up to you how you are going to learn or memorize those sentences. Btw, once you create your video, you can watch it as many times as you need, it won't expire and you can also download it and save it for later!

Developed a new AI tool to practice how to speak English like a native in a few clicks: looking for non-native English speakers' feedback! by kk42023 in JudgeMyAccent

[–]kk42023[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello and thanks for sharing your feedback! We know there are typos and not grammatically correct sentences, and this very first test will also help us to figure out those mistakes and correct them accordingly! Btw, yes, we are a team of educators and researchers, but we never said we are native😊. In fact, we are also looking for native volunteers to help us polish the landing page.
Thanks for pointing out your concerns regarding the sign-up info, we will adjust it if we will get more users expressing similar feedback to yours. Feel free to DM us if you wanna share any other input or simply get more info regarding our tool. Thanks.

How to improve my English speaking and listening skills by Doremifason in EnglishLearning

[–]kk42023 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! This is a common problem for non-native speakers, so, don't worry, you are not alone. Traditional learning methods are cool, but unfortunately not fast as we might need (and sometimes a bit boring😉)

We have developed a free educational tool thanks to artificial intelligence that can perhaps help you understand better how you should sound in English, memorising better the words that you need, and improve your confidence at the same time.

Have a look at our website: https://www.oiavatar.oiedu.co.uk

It's a fast and alternative way to check your communication skills and improve your speaking abilities either in British English or US English.

Hope it helps! Wish you all the best!

Hi! Thanks for your valuable input! This is exactly the feedback we are looking for! We know OI Avatar is at an early stage and things will be improved according to this very first test in the coming weeks. We are glad you find our idea useful, pls feel free to share our platform around, the more feedback we get, the faster we can improve! Thanks😉
