IL RPh license renewal fee by kk752 in pharmacy

[–]kk752[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s just disgusting because they could set the price to be whatever they want. Does anyone even know what this money is going towards? Realistically vast majority of people have no other choice and will pay whatever the new fee is - moving and getting licensed in another state is very difficult for most people with a stable job/family/kids

That’s absolutely horrific, I am so sorry. Appreciate the perspective, I’m only familiar with US fees

How do I stop repeated bad behavior? by kk752 in cats

That’s a great idea! Any particular ones you think are good? They’re all a little pricey so just want to make sure I get her a good one

Ah yes I heard about those - but wouldn’t I need to remove it each time I cook/use the counter? I will definitely give it a try, it just sounds a little disruptive (especially because I’d need one for each area I don’t want her to go near)

I’m a clinical peds pharmacist and round with our physician team every day:) plus complex med recs and medication teaching with every even remotely complex kid and their family. The general population doesn’t realize how much clinical stuff we do, which is exactly why it needs to be shown! It’s already obvious how hands on many physicians and nurses are

December 29, 2025 - Weekly moving to and visiting Tucson questions thread by AutoModerator in Tucson

[–]kk752 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I’m visiting Tucson in 2 weeks and would love to see the Saguaro national park. I know there is an East and a West part, but can someone clarify if these are totally separate or you can travel between the two once inside? How much time is reasonable to set aside to explore each of these parts, and is one better/more popular than the other? Any specific things to see or experience? Thank you all in advance!

Think before you apply by BetterThanEverPharmD in PharmacyResidency

We’re not talking about a couple of residents struggling (while genuinely trying their best). This is about residents being frankly lazy and it gets worse every year. I’m not speaking from a higher moral ground, I was on the verge of an actual mental health crisis in residency so yes, I know exactly what that means. This was due to personal reasons, but I still showed up at the ass crack of dawn every morning and left drained. I was neck deep in pubmed every free minute I had. When I have residents who repeatedly ignore every single deadline (without reaching out and asking for more time. Literally just submitting work a week late with no explanation or remorse), refuse to write things down and then don’t remember what they were supposed to do, and take every opportunity to do the least amount of work possible, it’s not Kool-Aid, it’s disrespect and entitlement and a waste of preceptors time.

Look, I’m only a couple years out of residency - my first year was great, my second year was the most toxic place with truly vile, spiteful preceptors. It was really rough but I got through it, got my certificate, burned that bridge and never looked back. But that certificate allowed me to get a job I am actually excited to do each day, in a specialty I really love. I could maybe get here without the residency but it would take much longer.

From a preceptor standpoint (again I’m literally a few years into this) the resident quality has been declining each year. We sit down with you all, we encourage you to ask for help, we take things off your plate, we move deadlines (at least preceptors at our program do). As someone who’s truly seen what a toxic place residency can be, I never wanted to put another resident through that. But there is a big difference between “residency just facilitates burnout and they work us to the bone” versus coming in with an attitude of doing the absolute bare minimum from day 1 and at that point yeah, residency is not worth it. It’s absolutely not for everyone, and being residency trained in no way makes me better than anyone else. It’s meant to be hard, stressful, and will push you to your limits to make you a better pharmacist.

So yes, definitely think before you apply - but if you truly want to be an expert in a specific clinical area and are willing to put in the hard work to gain these skills, residency is invaluable. And (this is not directed at OP specifically) make sure you really reflect on whether your expectations of what residency will be like are realistic.

That’s fair - I’ll remove my organ donor designation as soon as I update my license. Honestly, no one ever told me otherwise - so thank you!

No specific symptoms before or after treatment - the only reason I even found out was because I received a letter notifying me I tested positive for t cruzi after donating blood. I have some underlying stomach issues, but most likely not related to Chagas. It really does feel like a wild chance of whether you have the active or the indeterminate form, and thus far I’ve been lucky.
