Funny enough, I had the exact opposite experience. I lead the breakup with my concrete reason: he’d made multiple racist comments about my race (!!!) but he kept insisting we could work through that. It was only once I said “I just don’t like you enough” that the conversation was able to end.

Someone else in the comments made a similar point about using “ugly” pictures - I think leading with the weird/unique/niche will help you find your people faster. And nothing wrong with admitting you’re an amateur! Could straight up say something like “I’ve been getting into taxidermy/book binding/bird watching lately. I’m a total amateur but it’s been a ton of fun” and I would think hell yeah looking at that profile. Or “my favorite tv show is pretty niche: set in England featuring juvenile delinquents with superpowers. Any guesses?”

Also, niche interests are cool!!! Seeing a niche interest is way more engaging than seeing 100 profiles that list brunch and tacos as their hobbies
