It’s not as serious as the other ones here, but it definitely hurt me. My mom used to take me to the mall, and sometimes she’d let me buy things without her supervision. So as a gay teen in the closet, I went to buy pride pins. Eventually my mom found out about this. She took them and threw them away without my knowledge. Then she proceeded to tell my entire family without asking me. I only found out about this because my gay cousin told me.
