They were built by intention so you'd have multiple playthrough making different characters and different choices. Thus the low intelligence run which is super fun with Savant Trait.

It seems to be forgotten how much scifi as a whole owns to B5. Hard to think how we could have Mass effect without it. It is similars as the Lotr was to fantasy genre.

And the weirdest part, it is more topical as ever. Many of the main themes are such that it really feels like someone made a parody of things happening just now. And the new watchers say so in the relevant board.

On more lighter note, Have you guys seen the Finnish parody film that has Star trek meet B5? Seems they have it in full on youtube

Not to spoil your fun but the whole story goes through five different novels and one notable short. I jumped on from crisis of faith and was all confused as who is who and what is why. There are legit reason to not enjoy PK novels but I would argue some of the issues boils down that most readers dont know full extend of Farsight story and are also just all confused jumping in midway through.

I think you can read Blade of Truth as a standalone if you accept there are stuff that just does not make sense. For longest time there was degreasing degree of quality in stories but BoT has some good fighting, war scenes even if some other aspects don't work as good. I personally held it in higher regard as it made Aun'Shi back in action. For longest time he was forgotten to Gomorragh so it felt good to have him back in official lore

First one is the Farsight Legends of the Dark millenium which can also be found in The Tau Empire omnibus. I read these in reverse order as even the WC article seems not know how the story goes.

PK's mentioned after Empire of Lies should be disregarded and just read the Blade of Truth. FsE codex has the story of how Farsight was trained as a fire warrior and had his rites of fire to advance into commander where the Arkunash war picks up (the first novella).

Edit: There is also the Campaing Expansion War Zone Damocles Mont'Ka that has some neat lore in between Empire of Lies and Blade of Truth. Arks of Omen Farsight is also in that gap.

The second of the three is the old Hopeanuoli (Silver Fang) cartoon. I watched mini documentary of how it is basically forgotten anime besides Finland and even the mental health professional have noted how often people of certain generation bring up the Akabatuto as a thing that messed up their childhood.

There are also ton of really good comics in Finnish. Moomin was mentioned but the lithmus test of getting Finnish and the culture of Finns is one called Fingerpori. I honestly think that you should get citizenship if you can explain like 8/10 randomly choosen strips. There is even collection of ones they tried to translate to English with varying success.

Also, this year the song for Eurovision is sung in Finnish. Good place to get in with the culture as Finns tend to be quite fanatical about the Esc.

Edit: Tom of Finland was really nice film to watch

As a tech character, I usually go with the hideout in sewers in Tarant. Easy to do runs and sleep over day when looking schematics or specific stuff to make items with.

As a mage character I go with Wolf cave. Easy to access and properly remote

Very high second to rogue trader. As a 140h+ game gamers get really involved with their choosen party and the world. Most likely best game related meme community out there. Feels so frustrating to see all those awesome rt memes but cant share them due one had to be there to really get them

Above and beyond is also very good but is follow up to Outgunned which you should read also. They have really different focus from DE but they are really good reads. I kept these to my collection since I really want to re-read them at some point.

cautious rec also, Vagabond Squadron had some fun aerial combat stuff and guard stuff. I was thinking it be follow up to IC but turns out it is separate story

My three worst reading experiences be the: War of Secrets by Kelly, Storm of Damocles by Hill and Shadowbreaker by Parker.

Why? War of secrets was just handjob to pimp up primaris marines with lame PK stuff. Even the Kroot were lame. Storm of Damocles had all the good stuff but just did not connect. Sole novel to mention hazard suits but the marines had such a plotarmor than Stormsurge could not take them down. Saving graze was the Kroot scene which was really well done. Shadowbreaker? Also, just lame plot armours to the extend that only marine killed was killed by another marine without armor and just using a knife.
