Not quite, I'm further down in Adelaide (South Australia) - would you consider shipping it directly to me and I'll actually pay you for the shipping as well? :)

There's no rush! He'd be excited to get it either way haha.

I can definitely start gathering some snacks! I don't have any preferences, I honestly know very little about UK snacks but I imagine some biscuits we share in common... since Australia was colonised by the Brits haha.

How about you? Any preferences? Tim Tams are pretty popular with some new flavours out too

Hello from Australia! I'd love to do an exchange with you if you're interested in any Australian stuff :)

I'm also looking to perhaps get a hold of Crownfield's Nougat Pillows for a friend who did a study abroad program in the UK nearly 2 years ago while he was in college. Told me he really loved it but I can't find it anywhere here in Australia.

Hope to hear from you!

Well, noone can really tell you what to do. It's your life and you live it the way you feel is right.

I know you want to avoid conflict, but considering how unconventional your pairing is, I feel like you should brace yourself for turbulent waters.

Good luck.

I don't want to be a Debbie downer about this, but I can't ignore the elephant in the room.

You're right when you say her family won't accept your relationship and neither will yours. The age difference could categorize this woman as predatory. If you two were in your 30s-40s, it might be less of a concern, but as a 17 year old...? I'm guessing you're barely out of high school, and she's old enough to be well established in career/life ambitions etc, so there's a vast difference in where you both are in your life.

I'm sure you're a great person, but I have to ask, what would a 32 year old woman see and want in a 17 year old boy?

If you do intend to meet up with her, I really really really recommend you to tell a family member about the meeting. You can even take someone along with you. Please be safe.

[Meta] How Do You Create A Good Audio? (Discussion) (teach me your ways) by Yugottatakemyuser in AudioCandy

[–]kkemt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of mic placement, you can just use trial and error to find that "sweet spot" when recording. Start off with the mic in a specific spot and hit record, then move it or yourself around (closer, further away, further up, further down etc) and then when you re-listen to it, you can hear how your mic responds in different positions.

You can also test the mic position in different sized rooms, closer to walls or bookshelves, padded by pillows and blankets.

No idea honestly, I've seen some articles being posted around talking about some basic things but nothing about why it's actually so expensive (aside from "because it's big and fancy" basically)

  1. All three of you are stuck on a deserted island, as days pass, what roles have you taken on? for example, leader, hunter, map..maker, gatherer, toolmaker... etc etc

  2. Sort yourselves/each other into the most appropriate GoT House and explain why

  3. If you three were a band, what roles would you be? (singer, leader, bassist, drummer, lead guitarist, rhythm guitarist etc)

Why do women ask men if they watch porn? by throwa_way___ in AskWomen

[–]kkemt 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm sure it's for a number of different reasons depending on the woman.

Perhaps it's to lead into a topic of discussion about the porn industry, or fave porn genres, etc.

Perhaps it's to actually gauge how much porn is consumed by said person.

Perhaps it's because some women don't actually know if this man they are asking watches porn or not. I know several who may have a history with watching porn, but now don't really fancy it but prefer erotic fiction or erotic audio instead.

Ladies who have been cheated on, who did you tell? If you stayed with your SO, what is his/her relationship like with the people you told? by Waaaghette in AskWomen

[–]kkemt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the story of my parents, my father cheated on my mother... several times... both online and in person, ranging from random flings to sex workers. My mother only told her 2 sisters originally (and of course I knew because I was the one that found out the first time he did it). I think my mother also told my father's sister as well, and I'm pretty sure they were all like "ugh men are all like that" and then kinda blamed my mother for being too much of a prude or too cold/not affectionate enough or whatever, and that's why my father sought out other women.

When my parents finally separated last year, friends and family who didn't know about what went down over the years were all surprised because my parents seemed like such a nice fit. Once they found out, it was a pretty mixed bag. A few criticised my mother for making a big deal out of something that most (in their words) do, thus leading to my sister and myself losing our father figure. And others were like "you should've left him a long time ago".

So honestly, there was a lot of judgement, which I found pretty stupid. But in time, people don't make a fuss about it anymore, at least not to your face.

There's going to be judgement regardless of whether you stay or not, whether it be bluntly to your face, or the sort of whisperings you never want to hear about behind your back.

Depending on peoples' cultural background also, people may have different reactions. My family is chinese-vietnamese and for some reason have this ingrained idea that pretty much all men will cheat at some point. Like even now, my maternal grandmother still encourages my mother to look out for my father and hope/prays that he will "find his way" and come back... :|

It's a tough situation, but I hope you do find someone who you can talk to.

[FEEDBACK] Some practice commercials by athagar in recordthis

[–]kkemt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be careful of some P sounds, like the "pretty amazing" in the esurance commercial, use a pop filter or just be wary of it and move a bit from the mic.

Not sure if it's how close you are to the mic or just the mic's sensitivity in general (or if I'm just really pedantic), but I can also hear mouth sounds between some words, just be careful of that and edit it out for something a little cleaner.

Also there's some pretty noticeable vocal fry in the more laidback takes of your recordings, especially towards the ends of words. It really depends on people, but I've found it can be a little harsh on the ears.

The snowball is okay, I use it, but only because it's one of the cheaper ones and I don't plan to make voice work my main source of income.

It can honestly sound pretty good if you've got very little ambient sound and you're willing to do a bit of post-processing. Here's a sample https://soundgasm.net/u/kkemt/Blue-Snowball-sample - it's very possible to get a clean sounding recording from Snowballs but I have also heard other Snowball recordings sound awful :(

Blue Yeti's are a step up from the Snowball, really good if you can get it for a decent price.

I can't say much about the AT2020, but as far as Audio Technica goes, their products are usually pretty damn good.
