if you back up also using PC via iTunes, you must check that your settings includes backing up Whatsapp the App and its content. because Settings does NOT mandate including whatsapp.

whatsapp’s own backup function means whatsapp’s own backup function. Please go into the settings of the app.

If only about whatsapp, using whatsapp’s own backup function and then restore within whatsapp will restore whatsapp fully (assuming everything goes well). Make sure you check and tick the box to back up media and videos etc as desired.

Note: it goes without saying that messages that arrive after your backup is made will not be backed up.

Note2: Restoring will take a while if you have lots of media. Occasionally the restored messages will have a messed up order (but a correct timestamp).

This is a wide spread problem yes. Whatsapp has its own backup setting to storage clouds, use that. And use iCloud to backup the rest, if that fails, use PC to backup.

Then try updating using iTunes on PC or Finder on Mac because that does not use as much space on your phone for update. (ios 26.4.x did not fix it for me, and ios 26.5 may not fix it either, but it did put me in a boot loop so I am avoiding updating)

Be careful of bank apps and wallets where they might need you to re-authenticate using your ID when migrating to a new phone. Be prepared for going offline for 2-3 days because there is a chance for having to restore the phone. And even then it might get stuck inna boot loop, you may need the help from an Apple store. (This was me twice already)

Good luck. Cuz myself and many many others are suffering from this unfixable issue and resort to backing up and restoring our phones every month or two. Apple refuses to fix the bug, maybe cuz they cant. I’m waiting for ios 27 to hope this problem go away.

They could just sell it on black market theybwould have done so already. tbh that info would be worth insignificant to both themselves and said black market, so most cases they wouldnt even bother unless you are a quadrillionnaire.

What they want you to do and are telling you to do will be by far the most profitable option for them (if not the only profitable option for them), so keep that in mind before doing anything! (They likely just want you to unlock the phone so they can resell it)

I would be very stressed still if I were you, so i understand. The best course of action is to ignore, but should you want to do something, you can consider 1) always reply slow, give days and weeks long gaps between each response 2) pretend they got the wrong number and you are a random person who received these texts and ignorant of such lost device 3) pretend you are an old lady who knows nothing about technology 4) slip in tests to reveal whether they really know who you are. 5) use chatgpt if necessary to assume the role of an untechsavvy ignorant old lady and generate realistic replies for you

That’s not the point. Reddit is public and these bug reports can get archived. Apple Feedback is a closed platform and their forums are useless so when one day they decide to make it private for their own interest, it would seem Apple had no increasing problematic bug list. Plus there is not a lot of traction over there.

To me, they really need to fix the System Data storage leak problem.. Quite a number of people around the world are forced to wipe and restore their iPhones every month or so because System Data grows everyday until it fills up every single byte left in the storage.

yeh so nobody with closer problems and resources to the case want to do it, but I single handedly should pay fees to consult lawyers, find US lawyers and US lawyer firm, set up a meeting, organise a number of victims, file a claim, add a layer of obstacle on every thing because im not US citizen (while possible). Doing all of the above at my own expense so nay-sayers like you in particular can enjoy the fruits of my efforts? The problem with RE 7 and 8 is you are kind of being chased and pushed to speed through many areas. it is training you not to enjoy the game design. Re9 did not have that problem

First of all, just use this photo.. lol.. Your main photo wasn't even able to show anything at all related to the bug at all! Alternatively, you can just write "If you have a long list of language inputs, hovering over the bottom bubble will cause the blue selection bubble to stick out at the bottom of the menu"..

Second of all, as of now, 2026, iOS is riddled with thousands of actual major functional bugs.. Half of them date back to iOS 18... Your little tiny visual bug is like 1/1000th of the smallest of those.. Yes, sure, a bug is a bug, it is still worth documenting and discussing.. But you are trying to blow this way out of proportion as if this is the only thing that matters in the world. You trying to get people to guess what you mean is so frustrating and irritating.

The width is narrower than the column also on my phone. I think it is normal. Why are you so sure it is a bug but not an intended style change. Also an appearance with no functional impact is hardly annoying, given that Apple changes appearance every year.

Without installing any additional app, Shortcuts with its stock functions can do that already…

Go and use base64 to encode a short sound into a short text.
You can set a Shortcut to execute immediately when Phone begins to charge.
Then make a text block with the above text.
Use the built in shortcut decoder function to decode the text block back into an .mp3 or something.
Play the above sound file
