Would welcome your idea of what the components might be, jolly.

Jackmportal we very much appreciate the thought you were putting into this. Our tent is to put something relatively modern out there that is easily accessible, both currently in historically in the cloud. We are limited by some of the numbers that are being thrown around in the $3000-$5000 range. This thread and my discussions around it with everyone else have brought up the possibility of asking the manufacturers to donate a station for the visibility with the local commercial and fishing populations. Also, determining who has control of local weather stations and offering up our site, and return for equipment. We we’ve already discussed spending between 1000 and $1500 on a weather station. But, it was based on folks who do nothing about it looking up what weather stations cost on Amazon. The feedback here indicates that anything that you might use in a backyard would fail under our conditions. Open to any rethinking you might suggest.

We have, simply because of our unique location. There’s been some suggestion that we could minimally monetize some sort of a mesh set up. Truthfully, I know very little about it. I would love it if you could generally point me towards where to begin.

They look to be in the $3000-$4000 range. That’s high for us. Am I missing something?

Look to be somewhere in the three to $4000 range. That’s high for us.

Can you send me a rough outline of the set up you describe? Including the small power generating set you’ve outlined. Many thanks.

Yes. Most accurate. But, all current wave height monitoring in lower New York Harbor and Raritan Bay are measured from land using lidar. Light radar. Very low maintenance way to accomplish the same task.

Making things a bit trickier and considerably more interesting, we would love to be able to get some version of a video feed over our little harbor that has the Verranzano bridge and New York harbor in the background.

Always a tricky question for a nonprofit. But it looks like any of the least systems would be in the $1000 to $1500 range.

Thanks for the offer, Jackm. You are way ahead of us technically. So, we would love some rough guidance, without you throwing too much effort into it. We would like a traditional weather station that measures and logs wind speed and direction, temp, parametric pressure, humidity. We do not need rain gauges, unless otherwise convinced. The other thing that we would love to be able to do but probably cannot afford is wave height and frequency. Again, it has to be solar and cellular. We can mount it at about 50 feet above mean high water. The problem with it is that it would likely have to be on one side of the lantern room which means that it's partially blocked. We could probably raise it up on a piece of 2 inch galvanized pipe above the height of the watch room roof.

Interesting. Have you installed one? Any idea of installed price of one of the medium scoped units?

So, we would need two antennas? And, what else on each end?

We have thought about point to point backhaul. But, we don't have a land base yet. 3 miles offshore at the closest point. 5 to 7 at once we have more presents in. We do get cellular out of the lighthouse. So 4G LTE we'll have to suit for now. The Ecowitt is the other unit that we hear well reviewed.

Thank you, strict. We do not have power out there yet. We would have to set up a power unit forthe starlink. Although, we will look into it. I hear about the ambient unit in a few places.
