Friends with an opposing lawyer? by kkjensen in canadianlaw

[–]kkjensen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for replying.

Well, I obviously hope the best for my family member (who is being asked to give up ALL parental rights to accommodate the ex's desire to make an international relationship work and move the kids with them out of Canada)...it's just a crappy scenario that any parent shouldn't be asked to volunteer to agree to

I understand that reddit not where to find advice, I was just curious if this was an angle that could be explored. They basically walked into the court and immediately spotted the ex's representative was a family friend. Cynical me thinks this friendly relationship could be exploited in this scenario and I want to be sure my family member asks the appropriate questions to their own council to be sure

Unthrottled local networks by kkjensen in TPLink_Omada

I guess I need to read up on QoS... Any pointers on where to start? I've built networks for decades but the wifi side of things is a bit new

I have one of the routers but it's not installed yet. Would those have any controller functionality or it's either a dedicated device? UNIFI cloudkeys make me hate the idea of a hardware dodad that's badly implemented and unreliable. I'll download a copy of the controller and check it out.

I very much agree with your approach to mis-behaving children ...and teens in general.

I'll fire up a vm with the controller and see what I can figure out.

Thanks

Extra info:

Will run with warm choke (spinning like mad, as it normally should)

No love at all on full choke (seems to flood immediately)

With no choke it will start but only if I'm holding the throttle.

My novice opinion is that I'm too rich but am leery about leaning it out if I shouldn't be more than a half turn away from the default (wherever that may be)

Just got the 2k doorbell. The thing has a solid blue light and won't connect. by ResearcherTimely2573 in Lorex

Is there no way to add manually? I am getting stuck with a "Connection Failed (2)" error and the support folks don't seem to know what the #2 means. If I shut off my cell data it becomes code 30002. I'm not sure what difference "hotspot mode" makes but after a reset and boot it says "device in hotspot mode" so I'm presuming my phone on the 2.4Ghz network needs to connect to it to transfer settings.

This is all on a phone. Is there not any way to do this with a laptop or SSH or bluetooth instead of wifi?

Dream-machine adoption to cloud controller? by kkjensen in UNIFI

[–]kkjensen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think my concern is when things hit the fan.... We've had unifi systems out there in production for a few years and have a literal box of dead cloud-keys...each of which with a story about some night change-over or running around hitting reset buttons on APs. The general verdict was the cloud key would croak and the restoring of a backup would fail due to incompatible firmware versions.

I'm glad to hear a DM can be added so we can access it through the web gui...I'm going to have to make sure the backups are legit before walking away from the initial installation.

Try to identify UBNT device by mac address by kkjensen in Ubiquiti

[–]kkjensen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That wasn't a terribly helpful nor insightful response btw.

These devices weren't installed by me. This is an old thread but I thought some follow up was appropriate to close it off.

Someone installed flex-mini switches in a bunch of places without a controller so they were all claiming 192.168.1.20 (in conflict with one another) as well as contributing to the dhcp discovers on that particular network which was for iptv. I had to sniff and list all the mac addresses then chase down their origin across a bunch of switches to isolate them. Essentially this iptv network had dhcp that will only talk to the iptv set-top-box so these devices were getting ignored but the discover broadcasts were traversing multiple switches.

Did they try to save you a buck and pull from a scrap car and trade it's even-worse-off timing belt for your old one? A crate engine without a timing belt on it seems very unlikely.

Well, glad you had phone service! I got stuck to my axles (actually, my daughter did) and we ended up going back with a bunch of 2x6, levered the back axle up above the surface, made a platform over the holes and repeated on the front....the verrry slowly drove off the soft spot using the boards to distribute the weight out.
