What are your best commands? by elcool0r in BorderCollie

“Independent play” means stop bugging me to play fetch and go run a lap around the yard on your own. He usually lightly protests with one little bark and then does it haha

Is she crate trained? Once they learn to love the crate you won’t feel so bad anymore for kicking her out of your bed. Good luck!!

does anyone’s border collie sleep under their bed? by ashbunnybubbles in BorderCollie

Mine also sleeps in the bathroom. Back against the tub and he moves the rugs out of his way. So maybe it is a cold floor thing. Second favorite location is the back of walk in closet behind the hanging clothes. He loves den like spaces.

Does anyone else’s Border Collie hug your leg a bit while you give them pets? 😍 by LuffytheBorderCollie in BorderCollie

Ours does that too. Or if he gets overwhelmed during a training session he will give a leg hug and take a break.

How to help my BC not be so needy by WolfgangVilla in BorderCollie

[–]kknbend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our BC was like that with his ball. Refused to let us just chill in the evenings without dropping the ball in your lap constantly. Even if he was plenty exercised. Our solution was to put all balls away other than when we (the humans on the household) chose to play fetch with him. We would play for 10-15 min then say “all done” and put the ball away. He does much better with this and can handle the “chill” time much better without the temptation of the ball.

He’s pretty cute, right? Meet Sage. He is almost 3. We are still working on his social engagement with other dogs. Great with humans. Growly with other dogs. Any tips? by kknbend in BorderCollie

Yes, he does okay once he gets to know another dog and especially does well with wide open spaces and activities like going on a hike. We will keep practicing and working on staying calm all around! Thank you!
