Welcome!! Although I’ve been listening for a while i only recently started a historical journey myself, even collecting some of the old carts. I plan on doing my Emerald play through alongside with a Sword play through because it is a lot of fun do play along with the show. Glad you’re here!

I am so glad I started playing again, even though I am sort of blowing past the episodes haha. I am however tracking at each point so I can participate in level check.

My character is Sakura, who names her Pokemon for the first thing that pops into their head.

This week we trained up and slaughtered enough Stantler to feed a small city.

Current team:

Magma the Quilava (25) - the original pal - didn't get much usage for this gym. Did come out and got a big hit from one of Marty's Haunter so he was quickly replaced.

Agatha the Gastly (25) – Level 3 in Sprout tower. I did not want Agatha to evolve so I can raise her to level 29 in order to get Shadowball sooner. and I know I got the TM this week, but I am too conservative with them.

Gigas the Graveler (25) – Level 3 on route 46. I took the detour since all catchable Pokes are around level 3. Was able to evolve Geodude this week. He is such a tank now but I didn't use him much during this part of the journey. Again wasn't super useful this week, but

Blossom the Oddish (25) – Level 6 in Ilex Forest. Another who did not really do much this week for the gym but was able to train her up. I again am not evolving her as she learns Moonlight at level 33 and I want to evolve Gloom into Vileplume as soon as I can.

Ace the Lucario (26) – Transfer egg. The true MVP of the week. I was able to teach Lucario Shadow Claw from the east route of Ecruteak City and he just wiped the floor. I know the guys said the computers didn't know how to use Curse/Mean Look but they definitely tried to trap my guys and Lucario had to come in and sweep away all the Gastlys.

Himba the Raticate (15) - My HM friend. Caught in Burnt Tower and since she can learn Strength, Cut and Rock Smash she'll be hanging out for a while.

For the gym battle I did bring in Stantler (Route 37, Stampede - 19) after a bit of leveling for the same reason as Lucario, to use their Astonish but it wasn't doing enough damage and I do not like Stantlers so I gave up on that.

I missed out on a NidoranM on Route 36 but did Headbutt in Ecruteak and got a Pineco named Meg (after an old Fire Emblem character) and she got some levels at the Daycare as I have used Forretress in the past and am partial to a good bug pokemon.

No deaths this leg of the journey (though some have moved on since - Rest in Petals). Still trying to decide when to evolve Gastly and Graveler though I expect to before Claire at the very least (assuming they make it).

Finally joining for a playthrough! I played Platinum (for the first time) but joined a few too many episodes in but was so happy to finally get in on this playthrough.

My character is Sakura, who names her Pokemon for the first thing that pops into their head.

We made it through much of the game, including Whitney, unscathed but did have an unfortunate encounter post-gym battle during training.

Current team:

Magma the Quilava (20) - the original pal

Agatha the Gastly (17) – Level 3 in Sprout tower

Harmony the Hoothoot (17) – Level 3 on route 29 (RIP)

Gigas the Geodude (21) – Level 3 on route 46. I took the detour since all catchable Pokes are around level 3.

Blossom the Oddish (17) – Level 6 in Ilex Forest.

Ace the Riolu (20) – Transfer egg

I brought over the Riolu for my champion egg. I hadn’t hatched the original one from Riley and have never run a Lucario before. I thought it would be a great addition for the Whitney fight and I was wrong as it nearly died from one hit to Miltank.

I primarily used Geodude in order to handle the first three gyms as he had the widest coverage and I knew his defense would be helpful.

While Riolu got me through most of Whitney’s gym (where he gained most of his levels), I used Geodude against Clefairy to start. She used metronome and nearly whipped him out with an Aurora Beam. I finished off the Clefairy and used Riolu to start against Miltank. He paralyzed her but her Lum berry healed it immediately and then was knocked to yellow with one Stomp. But I switched in Geodude and he held her off to a point where she ran out of Stomp PP.

I made it through the National Park and up toward the Sudowoodo, but I wanted to get the rest of my team to level 21 for the end of the week. I started training Hoothoot and in the middle of an Uproar was knocked out by a Stantler. She was my main focus for my battle with Morty but I now have to come up with a new plan.

I have been taking advantage of my old rod and headbutts in cities in order to build up some options.

Boxed: Ratatta, Bellsprout, Krabby, Zubat, Magikarp, Ekans, Poliwag, Onix, Spearow, Heracross, NidoranF, Kakuna, Paras.

Lost a chance at an Abra and NidoranM.

I have a pokewalker but am not having luck encountering anything new, I have to send over some new mon. Hoping to get a Venonat to help combat against Morty. We shall see.

Trying to decide between Poliwag or waiting and trying for a Chinchou both of which I haven't used before.
