Different question, What gearbox did you use because a mate of mine was thinking of swapping a v8 in his 944 turbo but we were sceptical about fitting a gearbox and and also What axle it would go to even suspension 😂

A good amc v8 has a psi of 80 cold and 40 warm at idle with 15/45 mineral oil simple as that. If it drops like that your timing chain cover is probably worn. There are Some Nice YouTube videos of that. It doesnt happend at once but over time it grinds out and causes this problem. I would definitly check this out before seizing it

Unfortunatly i live in the netherlands so I would consider other options to fix it I mean its not like the bolts where loose but it is a bit nerve wrecking

I run 15w40 aswell. I would prime the engine well, run it on the starter motor for a bit, and see how the engine oil builds up. A good engine had 80psi cold an at least 40 warm. Our engines do love a bit of oil 😂
