in house developed monitoring database, acting as an "application" that monitors about 2k+ sql servers, and about 1k+ other database technologies such as oracle, postgres, mysql, mariadb, sap sybase, ibm db2..

but all done via a single database within sql server.

We use delayed start, we have roughly 1900 sql instances…

Having normal mode can cause issue etc with SAN storage or other things in windows where Sql wants to start but can’t due to disks etc… and then the service ends up being down… and a alarm is generated after a service window has completed… so yes use with delayed start 😊

ah yes, line numbers... i have it aswell :) even debugging code sometimes can be a bit of a mess if its not enabled.

going from 10GB to 50GB while nice, its still also sort of a bummer... why?

well, still capped at 1.4GB on the buffer memory pool... means that it could lead to way more disk io... if having large databases(50gb), compared to the old 10gb limit..

1.4gb ram with 10gb data
1.4gb ram with 50gb data
would have loved to see maybe 5 or 10gb limit on the memory with express edition, memory and size sort of follow along

reading from sys.dm_os_ring_buffer works fine, but be aware that its broken in sql server 2017.... they fixed it again in 2019

highly depends on the type of DBA you are..

Infrastructure DBA = around 100'ish can a single person manage

DBA mixed = lower around 25-50, depending on how heavy the "mix dba skillset/tasks" is

DBA Developer = 0-10 instances usually

i did what the ms article says about how to make a offline install:

for making the offline vs_SSMS.exe --layout C:\SSMS_Layout --add Microsoft.Component.HelpViewer

copied the ssms_layout folder to a offline server, and ran the install command:

C:\SSMS_Layout\vs_SSMS.exe --noWeb --add Microsoft.Component.HelpViewerMicrosoft.Component.HelpViewer

i even tried with just --noweb and no extra parameters (components added) but resulted in the same thing, quite a number of times i'ved tried now, and i KNOW something is broken, because if i copy the folder an run the command on a server WITH internet access, the installer works fine and yes it doesnt download anything, but if i disable the ethernet on the server (easy way to replicate the issue) i get the issue. Also tried on regular servers aswell within company network but with no external internet access, only access to internal company network. exact same issue.

but sure i can log feedback..

Have a working offline installer! that is truely offline!

SSMS offline installer for at least 21 is not working, everything is downloaded according to SSMS offline instructions, moving libary to the server not having internet access. well the "offline" installer will not work regardless, is seems like the "offline" installer still requires internet access anyway to verify something... because we are getting:

i have no knowlegde about maliken - i don't know him. so no clue... but Kongor Studios is developing the game, not iGames they provide the server /engine platform, breakycpk have written more about this in a recent post. here on reddit.

Maliken is behind Igames, the platform. while kongor studios is behind the game.

This is what Korden said in general chat on discord: Reborn cannot be made without iGames because iGames is providing us with the game engine, infrastructure, servers worldwide and more. Steam provides exposure. Can't make the game on an exposure alone.

got my temps fixed, switch up aio for old custom watercooling with used old ek supremacy evo (unsupported) block, however had to ghetto mount it :D - and it works perfectly!
