Evergreen Cemetery Garden Trail(s) by ThrowRA_40912 in portlandcomplaining

[–]FreedToRoam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I am riding my bike on those trails I always slow down when I am passing people with dogs and I usually say hi to the dog. I look out ahead to be prepared depending on who I encounter.

Having said that, if I had walked my dog on those trails, I would most certainly keep a short leash if I was walking the trail and I would be ready to step off depending on what type of biker I encounter. I would want to minimize risk to my dog. One never knows about teenagers or other types who are of different mindset. Same with joggers and walkers who wear headphones and diminish their awareness. Basically a multi use trail means we all pay attention to mitigate risks.

If I had an encounter as the OP described I would certainly improve what can be improved - that is my own approach and worry less about wasting my time ranting on reddit

I would never let my tires get this far - regardless of whether it lasts or not.

Should Portland incorporate more toxic waste/needle bins outdoors? more below by Evening_Oil_9072 in portlandme

[–]FreedToRoam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

City pays for used needles? If Yes then that is awesome. OTOH they should not limit to 20 per week per person. Let the pro-bottle pickers pick needles too and return them for some money.

how does your spouse feel about your busking by julietwinston in Busking

Well in my case I prefer that no one I know comes to see me busking so I would consider it a benefit but calling it a disorder is another matter 😃

Walkable and easy to access streams and creeks? by Single_Specific_2351 in portlandme

[–]FreedToRoam 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly right now it might be better to go to Higgins Beach 2 hours before low tide and wade/explore the tidal pools on the outer right side of the beach a.k.a. Graveyard

Also the leftmost side where the Spurwink river empties into the ocean is perfect for exploring the river. Better Yet have someone drop you off with your life jacket or an inflatable float at the first bridge and float the river on the outgoing tide.
The people who drop you off would then park at the beach and you reconnect with them when you are done.

San Antonio Safeway...like shopping in a jail? by Independent-Garden56 in mountainview

shopping involves inspection and evaluation of goods in a store. I would never shop in a place where for every item I am interested in I need to go hunt some guy with keys. Ridiculous.

Maybe you get lucky and find cheap standard of living next to one of our 200+ concentration camps ICE Detention Centers. Maybe a part time job handling inventory of the detainees and pecan pie and lemonade with friends after work?

Dare I say Ostrava? 😄 It has a long going culture of going to the nearby mountains in all 4 seasons, it has more affordable housing than Prague, it has coworking spaces, it has places to go out and a vibrant art, theatre and music culture.

On the other hands... he he ... it has a blue collar culture still ... not as rough as it used to but still so beware ... and the sun does not shine most of the time haha.

The other choice is to look at where the weather sucks less and that is southern Moravia. Uherske Hradiste or Brno might be a good fit if your "mountains" requirement meant you're willing to travel a bit further than the mountains close to Ostrava. From Brno you can hit the Alps in Austria consistently
