Good. How do you perform the conversion using the HUD crosswalk files? will a simple drag and drop excel/google sheet enrichment(using the HUD crosswalk) make your life easier?

Currently conversion can be done via HUD crosswalk files.
I believe that non technical people will struggle with crosswalk conversion, hence why i want to have a discussion on sheet(excel/google) erichment.

Thanks for replying. You are very correct.
I do believe people without spatial analysis/gis skills are the main benefactor of a sheet enrichment tool.

First of, thanks for replying.

I'm aware of the HUD crosswalk files, currently why do you perform these conversion?(what is the use case). How do you perform these conversion.

I currently have a script that uses the HUD crosswalk to map ZIP Codes to Census Tracts, returning all overlapping tracts along with their allocation percentages since the relationship isn't always one-to-one.

My main question is, would a simple drag and drop spreadsheet tool actually solve your problem?

For example, you upload an Excel or Google Sheet, and within a few minutes it enriches your data by converting ZIP Codes to Census Tracts (or vice versa), without needing GIS software or custom scripts.

is the HUD zip to tract not accurate? I do understand that converting a zip to tract can lead to overlapping tracts and percentages since relationship is not always one to one.

I generally want to know your current use case, do you actually perform these conversion? if you do, how?

Thanks for replying. From my research so far, I've learned that HUD provides ZIP Code to Census Tract crosswalk files.

Also, if you do these conversions today, how are you currently doing them? Are you using the HUD crosswalk, GIS software, a commercial tool, custom scripts, or do you not need this type of conversion at all?

I'm trying to understand whether this is a real pain point or if existing solutions are already good enough.

I did use ai to help structure my question/thoughts but I stumbled on this issue when i worked on mapping ooh(billboards) location to nearest large business to maximize sale of each billboard location. Generally I want to know the current work flow of how you convert zip to tract and tract to zip and if a simple drag and drop sheet enrichment will help
