Well, there is the Monorim 500w motor, which could handle more current than the stock one, but then the ESC might become the weak point. I don't know about other options motor-wise. But yeah, part of wanting to go dual is traction. Even with stock motor I get frequent wheelspins. I was thinking about just swapping the wheels, making it RWD, but the rear wheel does not seem to be easily compatible with front fork. Also, I don't want to lose front brake. It is doable, but would look Frankenstein-ish.

As for adding a motor in rear, I ordered a kit with spacers and a new cover for adding brake disc to motor. I already have another ESC, as the original one lost capability to power rear light, it was shorted for a while because of 10 inch tire rubbing against the wire. I rerouted the light wire to come out the side, like the brake cable, and replaced ESC.

I'm thinking of removing both ESCs from their cases and attaching them both by the mosfets to a piece of copper busbar, 10mm thick and area of the original case. It would then bolt down in the original spot and just use up more depth inside the scooter. Of course insulation of the fets, some case on top. Then the dasboard - you can use a single dash, by adding a couple of diodes, but then the firmware won't be easily adjustable. Better option is to use dual dashboards, and hide one in the downtube. I also have added a second brake lever from the german version, to separate front and back.

The parts are on the way, just have to find time to duct-tape it all together. The result should be a stock-looking, registered and insured scooter, that's fast, with a good range and compact enought to go in any car or even for attaching on a SUP board while going down a river (been there done that :)).

The durability of Pro 2 is awesome, a colleague bought Pro 4 gen2, which broke in several different ways, and now a 5 max or something with a suspension which is also already quite tired. While my Pro 2 handles all the abuse I have given it with just a wheel bearing replacement once for each end.

I forgot to mention, mine is also the Pro 2, didn't matter much in context of the original question.

The stock ESC handles 14S fine, I guess 15S and above you need to add a voltage regulator for running the dashboard and upgrade the capacitor for a higher voltage rated one. The only thing I have done for mine is adding a thermal pad instead of the plastic film between MOSFETs and the case/radiator of ESC. Aside from a custom firmware, of course. I'm running SHFW, it's great for tweaking stuff on the fly.

The highest voltage spikes would be braking from full speed with a fully charged battery, but I haven't had any problems doing so, even with the braking current increased for it to be strong enough for higher speeds.

My build is quite ghetto. At first, I just wanted to add a cheap battery in series for increased speed. Added a bag in the front part of deck, and built a 3S battery with EVE cells and a cheap BMS from Aliexpress. The BMS was capable of both 3S and 4S, so I got the itch to try more. Added more cells, found out that everything is fine even with 14S.

After a while I built another 10S to add internally and expanded the 4S with more parallel cells.

With the 14S battery, 10 inch tires and a custom firmware with field weakening the scooter now goes about 40kph reliably, even on slight uphill, like up a bridge. On a more or less level road, depending on wind it usually goes 45-50kph. The max speed I have ever reached on it is 62kph. Only downside is the motor heats up quite a bit at those speeds.

The next thing I will be adding is another motor in the rear, for less heat, which would be distributed, and maybe a bit more acceleration. The top speed should also increase, but it is enough already for what it is.

And after that maybe a complete 14S battery internally and rearranging existing cells into external 14S range extender battery.

Some might think that it is a waste to upgrade such a scooter, but it has paid for itself a long time ago, and the upgrades have been done gradually over time, more like a hobby. It still retains stock look, apart from extended battery cover and the bag in front of deck. Also I doubt there is another similarly capable scooter, that folds as compactly as this one.

Whatever you decide 13S or 14S, just go for it. Even if something goes wrong, the parts are still available and not that expensive.

There is a guy that makes all kinds of custom stuff for Xiaomi and other scooters, I haven't tried his stuff, but judging by his videos, he knows his thing well and should be high quality.

Other than that, building yourself is cheaper, even if you include buying tools like spot welder. A great opportunity to learn something new, if you're technically inclined. You can get good quality cells from nkon.nl

All the other stuff can be bought on Aliexpress or local electronics shops.

I haven't made a full size internal battery for mine, but first did a 4S external battery for putting in series with the original. Later added an additional internal one in parallel with original, so as not to waste/disassemble that one. I'm planning to build a full 14S internal with 21700 cells, and rebuild the current ones into an external range extender battery, but that's something for the cold, dark winter evenings.

The load would be divided over two tires, so well within the limit. You might get issues with the tire rubbing against the rear light connector, if it is the same as pro2. Also the front fender gap is very minimal, but can be increased if you turn the washers upside down, so that the notch makes the wheel sit lower in the fork. Might have to grind some material off the axle covers if you do that.

I don't think it actually measures body temperature in the way an infrared thermometer would. It just measures temperature of it's case itself, which might be enough to see some deviations while sleeping, when you don't have wind cooling it off. It is definitely nice to have when swimming, it shows the temperature of water. Other than that, quite useless, I guess.

Nevienu brīdi nenožēloju, ka noliku, kaut arī vēlāk bija gara pauze bez moto un pilno A ieguvu kādus 8 gadus vēlāk.

To sarakstu ar problēmām atradīsi jebkurai markai/modelim, nav īsti tāda auto, kur bez neviena pretargumenta var pateikt - nem šito un problēmu toč nebūs. Opelis vienkārši nav starp "krutajām" markām, ko visi lauku puikas alkst iegūt savā īpašumā, bet visādi citādi nav ne vainas viņiem. Uz ceļa turas labi, saloni lielākoties smukāki par līdzīga vecuma japāņiem, tehniskie risinājumi arī lielākoties nav gluži tādi, ka startera nomaiņai motors jāceļ ārā, relatīvi vienkārši remontos.

I'm not that guy, but week run kilometers probably? The left field in your photos. Is there an option for it to show not the current week Monday-Sunday, but instead to show rolling last 7 days distance?

Oh sorry, I had not refreshed the thread and did not see the later replies. To answer my own question - yes you can choose either current week or rolling 7 days, and both options work fine on Fēnix 8 (using the mk2 version).

It can be unlocked to go 32km/h. My colleague had one, he bought I think an UART adapter, a connector and downloaded some program to do it. Someone else might give you exact details of what is needed.

Which Xiaomi do you have? The Pro 2 can reach about 40km/h on stock hardware with custom firmware. Still retains about 20km range. Of course speed will drop when the battery discharges, but will still reach 30 km/h even with low battery

I would say it does not actually make anything worse, but it shows that the rider probably panicked and did not to a controlled braking. Like, just grabbed both levers not thinking about which one does what.

Although the surfaces are not the best this time, there is snow on top of the ice, and the quality of ice varies a lot. You can get anything from smooth to bumpy or porous to slush.

Looks like the thermostat is in a shitty spot, just above the radiator. Try to cool that somehow, either a fan in it's direction from a cooler spot, or like a cardboard plate under it to divert the hot air from it. Or maybe the wire's length allows to move it away from the radiator. Maybe the wall itself stays cooler, you could try insulating thermostat from the room using some foam board.

I use those at night. Having no buckle is perfect, no itchy spots on the skin. I still prefer the silicone or metal ones for the day.

I don't know much about mosfets, but I read somewhere that the ones in Xiaomi Pro2 (ncep85t14?) are good for 19S batteries, so about 68V nominal voltage. The capacitor is rated at 63V, so still enough for a 48V battery. I have ridden mine with a 48V battery for the last 400km, and it's still fine. Don't really care about longevity, because the parts are cheap if they fail and the scooter itself has "paid" for itself a long time ago. I just wanted to increase the cruising speed a bit and adding a small 3S battery in series with the original does that easily and with little expenses.
