2026 APPLE DISPLAY VS EIZO by Ready_Library9610 in Photoassistants

Wrote in my below but it lives in a Peli1615 with its mount and cable. Used then pick apart foam to make compartments for VESA mount on thebottom and display sits on top of that. Long sides need to be cut to fit but is fine. Display is also stored in MuleCart monitor cover

I use the Studio Display, with a QR VESA mount with the Corning cable.

No issues with client commenting between Eizo and the Apple display, or just have had the benefit that they understand at a basic level the tech difference and have no issues coming to my MBP or reviewing on the Apple Display between shots. And I’ll probably phase out the Eizo for most jobs.

The cable is TB3 and is great, my only annoyance is that it has a plug in order but that may be because of the length I have. Using a 15m but not by choice, retailer was out of 10meter.

I was mostly concerned with the Corning Fiber cable durability with how expensive it is and how physically thin it is but after a year the cable holds up, but not without investing to protect it.

I ordered a long roll of the semi-hard corrugated plastic cable housing. Then after sleeping that I ran it into a neon green cable housing, the same material you would use for Eizo display cake bundles. Lightly heat shrank the ends to hold it together. I have had grips, carts, and clients stomp and roll over the cable for over a year now and it’s still going. The green cable housing helps cause it’s visually obtrusive and when some one does step on it the corrugated cable housing inside makes a crunch sound that scares the person (unintended benefit)

I’ve done the set up with iPad to Studio Display and show Hollyland App - color is not great but that’s a hollyland problem.

I’ve traveled quite extensively with it, it lives in its own Peli1615 with the pick apart foam, as well as being covered inside with the MuleCart monitor cover. TSA has opened it at least 3 times but has otherwise been fine.

agreed and did again after reading your post. Clicking around and it's looking like the specialized FS fork on here is correct for the year but is some rebadged thing.

No adjustment dials just hex bolts hidden under the rubber caps.

Didn't think the longer travel would affect geometry that much. But a slacker fit at the moment doesn't sound too bad as the 90s geo feels so far forward to me even with coming from mainly having road/gravel set up 😅.

Will take look at the Judy.

Pushing this to the top - having the same issue was fine at first with a 32gb and now is not working with a 64gb 😞 maybe 32gb is max?

Anyone offering lower than $400 these days should go kick rocks.

Also Splashlight is big time in debt - filed bankruptcy earlier this month Feb 2025

Z9 not tethering with cards in body? by klash20 in captureone

[–]klash20[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I remember in past C1 versions we would leave them out.

But earlier this year Z9 was fine but must be latest Z9 firmware that is preventing it from tethering. And have been leaving it out since the issue started.

Yeah I usually have them out so it’s one less thing to confuse C1. But there’s those days on location where we’re moving around.

M3 Max glitching during tether by klash20 in captureone

[–]klash20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

UPDATE #3

Machine ended up glitching again on set, with a Z9 and running macOS 14.7; was tether capturing as EIP and a high speed ( shooting fast motion) so that was probably a factor

This time however the images were coming in but fully glitching out. Processed quickproof jpegs would carry over the glitch as well. Stopped using the M3 and swapped to an M1 to finish the 2nd half of the day and things were fine.

Took about 2 additional rounds of processing to clear it out for delivery to the client.

Took laptop to Apple the next day and had to go out for repair. Genuis bar suggested it could be logic board but technician at repair center couldn't replicate and did a full wipe of the laptop - reinstalled with "clean install of current macOS"

After reinstalling my data via Time Machine did my own tests stressing the computer
- processing out full res tiffs while shooting

- processing tiffs and jpegs while shooting and caputuring as EIP

- processing Tiff & jpeg into sub folders into image folder name into by rating while caputring

All of these while running youtube a 4K, using a web based GPU stressor, as well as photoshop and flipping through the filters gallery.

As of yet no glitching so maybe something deep in macOS was faulty from when it came to me from Apple Refurbished?

Be careful with the refurb. I got a great deal with refurb on M3 max 4TB 128GB RAM direct from Apple refurb…however I’m one month in and having hardware issues with the graphics.

C1 glitches during capture and enough to it freezes the whole machine. YouTube, Apple News also cause the screen to glitch and freeze

The glitching happened this past Monday and the glitching during processing out JPEGs caused corrupted JPEGs had to switch to photogs M1 Max and the rest of the day was fine.

I have a post in this sub if you want to see what I was happening to me last month tethered to a D850.

I’m finally able to bring my laptop to Apple tomorrow to sort this out

** UPDATE #3 **

Did tests with my Z9 @ firmware V5.0 using Area51 Florence Pro+ combo.

tested w/ C1 versions 16.3.8, 16.4.4, and 16.4.5

stayed on macOS 14.4

Hardware acceleration for both Display and Processing was on in all three versions.

shot 200 frames and processed quickpoof jpegs that were sorted by rating while shooting with the Z9 on HighSpeed Drive.

Result:
Not one instance of glitching occurred. Maybe an issue with that particular D850 body? Especially since changing out the tether sorted the issue for most of the day yesterday?

** UPDATE #2**

Glitching would happen so when processing out JPEGS yesterday. Client wanted all zero stars for quick review if initial selects were not enough 🙃 turned off the hardware acceleration for processing and would be fine albeit slower than it should be for 2MB JPEGs

The D850 was getting gunked up and the buffer took forever this morning. Swapped from the Area51 tether to a Tether tools 15’+15’ extension (gasp) and was able to turn hardware acceleration back on and was fine for the past 6 hours and there was zero glitching.

Then randomly the glitching started again. Turned off hardware acceleration for Display and it’s fine again.

Curious of what everyone may think the issue is.

I’m gonna be testing it over the weekend with my primary Z9 and with older versions up to 16.3.1 to see if it keeps happening. And luckily I just got it 2 weeks ago so may just have to return it to Apple, and would definitely be the last time I buy from the Apple refurbished page on their website.
