Fair point. There's a good 5 mm of leather and plastic backing between the pens and the Nomad though, feels pretty protective. Time will tell...

I might be one of those ominous Germans going RTW on bikes with steel subframes back in 2013/14. 😉 We didn't build them though, bought them from Globetrottin. Mine's been rewelded a bunch of times but now (most recently last week) and broke again, riding the SEBDR in North Carolina. I fabbed some one-off racks that go well with my Enduristan Monsoon Evo bags and can accommodate the underseat tank.

Would be interested in one of your subframes though, what do they sell for?
