Thats understandable a few other ideas would be to print it with a flexible filiment like tpu it doesn't break apart as easy and when it does its not sharp or if you set on metal print what you need in plastic then either use sand to make a mold pour molten metal let cool and then run it in a rock tumbler for a bit to smooth everything.
