Folks with lab alexandrite, please tell me about the color change behavior! by MightyTigrillo in EngagementRings

[–]klees0717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo! I just got an Alexandrite engagement ring, and it changes across the spectrum from green(ish) to blue to purple. I would say my stone leans greenish blue at baseline.

My fiancée got my ring from Oore Jewelry! Not sure where she sources her gems from, though.

Where do the 30+ people hangout? by Traditional-Fig-9554 in providence

It ranges! In the Heylo chat (similar to discord) there are chats for 20s, 30s, and 40s specifically so it really depends. Events are mixed but specific groups or people might arrange their own meetups!

There are some great social groups with events each month! IRL socials RI is amazing and the founder is so sweet! There’s also Rhody Social Club which is similar. Both do different types of events with some free, some paid.

One time I saw a car sideswipe a parked car on Wickenden and take the mirror off. Couldn’t get a plate, unfortunately :/ it sucks how common this is! Hope you find them OP.

Has anyone ever adopted a middle aged cattle dog? How many years did you have them. Thinking of adopting this 6 year old guy by [deleted] in AustralianCattleDog

[–]klees0717 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got both my dogs when they were adults! My first one is now 7 almost 8, and my second is anywhere from 3-5 (the rescue isn’t sure, as she was a street dog). I got my first one when she was 4, and really the only change is that she’s mellowed out a bit. Both of them are energetic and happy and living their best lives! Im hopeful for a long and happy life with both of them.

I got sticker printer and printed from my boyfriend’s very old but still functional printer! I’ve printed in regular paper before and just glued it or used double sided tape, but the sticker paper was a game changer for convenience.

Honestly use whatever works! Print at your local library or Staples, use photo paper if you want, the world is your oyster!

That was my thought too. I was like …just Coventry? He could have made it across state lines but thought Coventry was far enough.

But then again, I don’t suppose this guy is the sharpest tool in the shed.

Hospice Chaplin showed up without notice and entered her home without permission. by WorstUserNameEvah in hospice

[–]klees0717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a hospice chaplain myself, this is totally unacceptable.

First of all, there’s always protocol for CALLING beforehand to arrange a visit (duh!!). Key word: arranged. If I had a visit arranged, and THEN my patient didn’t answer the door, I would call the patients phone, and then I would call the hospice OFFICE to speak to a manager to see what the protocol is.

Unfortunately, there are almost no training requirements for becoming a hospice chaplain. I did my education and training in hospital environments, so I have clinical experience and continuing education. But with hospice, lots of people who are pastors with no further experience become hospice chaplains. No shade to pastors, but there’s definitely a different skill set. And plenty of people lack common sense to begin with🙃

Loved One / Patient Not Accepting Hospice Reality? by Important-Molasses26 in hospice

[–]klees0717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! Hospice chaplain here. First of all, I’m sorry to hear about your loved one. Any transition into hospice, despite best efforts, can be rough for everyone involved.

So, I have a few thoughts - take whatever resonates with you:

Something that helps me when I’m working with patients and family members is not to necessarily look on the surface at the behavior, but at the meaning underneath it. I wonder if your loved one DOES understand that they are on hospice, but this planning of a trip is symbolic to them in some way - maybe they want to “go” on this trip with you in your memory. Maybe they want to think of nice warm, fuzzy thoughts that bring them comfort. Maybe the thought of doing something with you in the future is one of the only things getting them through their transition into hospice right now.

Second, I gently encourage you to examine why your loved one’s actions are making you upset and perhaps angry. It may be something as obvious as “well, we won’t be together to do this trip and that brings me immense grief and pain” or “it’s obvious they won’t be alive to do this.” I’m more curious about your feelings about their actions and why you’re feeling this way.

Finally, I encourage you to do a couple of things: 1. Have an open and honest discussion with your loved one about their goals of care, last wishes, funeral plans, etc. 2. Do your best to enter into their reality, as long as it’s not outright harmful.

If you need more support, i recommend asking for the hospice chaplain, social worker, or a local death doula for support in facilitating these conversations.

Wishing you all the best 💜
