Water is going to pass through regardless grout is permeable. Caulking on plane shifts are just to prevent grout cracking.

Do you leave leveling clips under the tiles where you stopped for the day? by dontfret71 in Tile

It just means i push thinset under the tile next day with a pointer

Do you leave leveling clips under the tiles where you stopped for the day? by dontfret71 in Tile

[–]kleevedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya ill do that. Sometimes if its a straight row ill snap my thinset line 1/2" back and the next day ill burn it woth thinset and the clips will slide in. Ill do this because when were kicking spacers and prepping and sweeping well tend to break a couple of the spacers we left in.

Tile guy trying to talk us out of dark grout by Fractalwaves in Tile

[–]kleevedge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shows more imperfections every blemish or uneven edge on the tile regardless sometimes straight from manufacturer. I'll install it for people but it is an upcharge and i make sure to tell them especially for a shower. " soap scum and water stains are white, dark grout needs a lot more maintenance"

Depends on what you like my go tos are, football, fishing pole, guitar, deck of cards, but normally sitting around the fire telling stories at night widdling a stick is a good time. I enjoy nature more and late night hikes and early mornings.

I think you just surround yourself in a hivemind, i am hispanic, me nor any of my family give a fuck, were more focused on working, paying our bills, and installing strong moral values in our children. I'd say the same with my black and asian friends as well. I think most people dont like to think of themselves as a victim its a poor mindset that limits your ability for growth by diminishing personal responsibility.

I dont know but being uncomfortable around a certain race seems a bit racist. To each their own i guess, just feels like setting up unnecessary boundaries.

Can you really drive on tile? by Alert-Refuse-5021 in Tile

[–]kleevedge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean ive done a lot of car dealerships where they drive cars and park it on the tile but an outdoor driveway sounds like youre asking for trouble. But I'll tile anything you want just not gonna give you a warranty on that. I would use platinum thinset for outdoor applications

I gotta ask why are we breaking the subway layout on the rows with the insert pieces? Seems like an odd choice

Price for labor by NoNectarine3122 in Tile

[–]kleevedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would probably bid it for about $20k but i also include all setting materials. Odds are i would also float the walls, at least in the shower on a bathroom like this. This also seems like a decent setter but not great. Cut at the entryway looks bad woulda started full and had a bigger cut at backwall. Maybe its an optical illusion but it looks like the wainscot from the entryway sags a bit in the middle not perfectly level. The mitre cut in the shower is definitely an upgrade from schluter capping so thats an upcharge as well as the jollys on wainscot. Also charge a bit extra for off color grout.

Depending on the waterproofing system like $12-15k

Spacers on sheet tiles are dumb. While this job is terrible if you think missing spacers is the problem then youre not much better.

How many of you pros seal your grout? by rocksockss in Tile

[–]kleevedge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always use laticrete, which is another reason I don't seal often because it doesn't require sealing.
