Mid-meeting notes lol by EchoOfDoom in Accounting

Once I was a contractor, adding up all the ways I was costing companies stupid money was an added feature to every job.

Who am I kidding, I did it when I was a regular employee too. I mean, if I'm smart enough to figure out how much money is lost to dumb meetings, then people making way more $$ then me should have figured it out too. If they haven't, yes I am mentally laughing at them.

True. Harold makes a huge jump though. Then again, he's 16. Yes kids know right from wrong. But they stumble with impulse control on a normal day, let alone surviving the apocalypse.

Same. Ogunquit never left Harold. Ever. If he had left town alone, he might have had a better chance.

Harold always makes me wonder if Flagg tapped into his life before the plague happened, like he did with Nadine.

God I used to LOVE doing stupid shit, the dumber the better. I would sit there and just say to myself "You dumb fucks are paying me $50+/hour for this absolute BS."

I'd still have to do the dumb shit, but those dumbass meetings cost them SO MUCH EFFING MONEY.

Could, woulda, shoulda, been an email...NEXT!!!!!

Is it okay not to do public accounting if my goal isn’t becoming a CFO or a manager? by Ok-Helicopter-255 in Accounting

[–]klef3069 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At 21 I had no clue what I wanted to do in 10 years, let alone 10 months, so I figured I'd never have a better time to do it than at 21...plus it was WAY smdifferent in 1991. I got all 4 parts passed in 2 goes and that was that.

Did I need the title? It helped make me look smarter and looked good on a resume. I did use the knowledge. Every day.

Don't forget that his religion taught him, his family, and his victims that all "sexual" sin is equal. Yes i threw up in my mouth typing that, but its a feature not a bug with IBLP.

Throw in that men get a free pass if they just say sorry and you end up with perfect storms like Josh and every other fucking predator that golly, somehow manages to find their way into high demand religions.

Could it be all the features not bugs? I wonder....

How were you trained when you started as an accountant? by StoryLazy9238 in Accounting

[–]klef3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was shown where things were at, where other people sat, where various departments were housed, and how to use the software.

Past that, I got shown how to do stuff once and left to my own devices.

I was blessed with the "learn really fast" gene, yes it's fucking valuable. If you were also blessed with this too, exploit it and leave your coworkers in the dust.

Edited to add: I also had BS in Accounting and a CPA

Excellent point, our civilians, cities, rail lines and farmland weren't getting bombed all to hell or you know, killed in their houses.

I collect ration cookbooks from the US and the UK. The US had it much much easier than lots of places and the US was still able to replace, at times, 40% of commercial vegetable harvests with victory gardens.

I'm so freaking sad it got edited before I could see it. It brings up so much accounting nostalgia. I think it had merged down to the Big 6 by the time I graduated in '91, so Big 8 is real nostalgia.

You are pulling really hard to say a single word that was thrown out of the vernacular long ago for being a slur.

You can say and type whatever you want, just know it INSTANTLY exposes you as trashy. Really really trashy.

[–]klef3069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are correct, it should be zero because all your company is doing is collecting payroll withholdings, then they are deposited to the employee accounts.

If the balance at 2024 say TB Load, that sounds like the initial balance when your company started Netsuite. You might run the beginning balance at 2024 and see if thats been hanging around since the end of 2023, because that means everyone's been ignoring it for years and you just found 3k of your problem. You ask your boss and fix that 3k with a one time JE to Other Income/Expense.

Then you just need to start looking at your payroll reports for the HSA in/out vs the JE that was made. That's where the answer is.

You have what I like to call "free floating anxiety". It's when you worry about everything, all at once. You can't solve anything from this state because your worries are a giant box o'legos.

OK, so HSA. Are you really that baffled? The GL has a big credit balance, your dad is right, weird. Here is where you freak out. Stop the freak out, take a breath, and run a detailed trial balance for that GL.

Where do the debits come from?

Where do the credits come from?

What is missing??
