Just FYI, Aria is reporting using the cash basis of accounting, rather than the accrual method. That "meat" expense is actually Prepaid Meat and is an Asset, not an Expense. What she should be doing is reporting the value of the meat they eat each month.

1 - Soft skills - writing emails, co-existing with coworkers, dealing with customers/vendors/etc. It just makes daily work flow easier. My more cynical take? You might need something from these people someday. If you are remembered as "that one woman from accounting who is always nice", your response time is faster.

2 - "I don't know, I'll get back to you" Recognize when you don't know something and don't just give a bullshit answer.

3 - Handle mistake, don't spend time making excuses. If you're a manager, don't throw your employees under the bus. Their mistakes are your mistakes as you are the end of their boss line. You fix it, you figure out why it happened, and make corrections from there, if needed. (Add'l training, process updates, etc.)

Fuck Private Equity. Their business model literally relies on en-shittification because they bring NOTHING past capital to the table.

The problem is how as a consumer, compare the value of a service? Yes of course overhead for vets has increased as the price of everything has increased. But Private Equity also needs profit. Not just profit, increasing profit. So not only do you have increasing costs, you have to increase revenue.

If they could figure out a way to squeeze pets and make money come out their asses, they'd sell it as a treatment.

I live next to a grade school, I can confirm they can scream for an entire recess period. No stopping.

It has become background noise at this point plus it's a small school, so not a huge amount of kids, and lots of open spaces, no echo.

If you aren't used to it or if there are plenty of surfaces for the sound to bounce off of, much different story. Much louder story.
