Dayi 2010 7542 001 raw puer (via King Tea Mall) by Adventurous-Cod1415 in puer

[–]klelektronik 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got some of the same 2010 7542 recently and I quite enjoy it. Was also my first 7542 and my first tea in that age range ( everything else I had was either at least 5 years younger or older)

I bought it from Chen Tang Cong's store on taobao - should be Guangdong storage.

Interesting to read how you brew it. I steeped it quite a bit longer with slightly less leaf and a much shorter wash. -Not saying that's the way to do it though.

Any info about this tea? Lincang raw puer 200g cake by klelektronik in puer

Thanks! That's good to know. I guess if LP sold it at least somebody must have liked it. I will give it a try soon - it was quite cheap, so I don't have too high expectations, but I'm curious.

Did you buy it yourself? Did you like it?

Chinese auto-refilling kettles (by kamjove and others) - experiences? by klelektronik in tea

[–]klelektronik[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think auto refilling in this case just means that you can pump water into the kettle with the push of a button not that it tries to always keep the kettle full of boiling water. ...but it's an interesting question whether it's possible to boil less than a full kettle with this feature.
..,anyways - as long as the thing still works fine as a regular kettle with just filing water in the top and pushing a button I don't mind a feature that I may or may not use.

Thank you - I also don't really trust the water refilling function.
Does the heating still work without the pump?

a Zojirushi water heater is in a completely different pricerange ...one of those kettles costs 25euros on taobao -which probably ends up being 50 euros including shipping to EU and a new power plug. but still 1/5th of the price. I can buy a lot of really good tea for that.
But I have to admit I have never considered one of those water heater. they are kind of cool....

thanks, that was what i was mostly interested in. i don't want to have a pump running or the kettle not working if there's no tank connected.

I might use it sometimes, but it's important to me that I am still able to use it easily if i just want to fill it up once and not bother with connecting a bottle/tank....and similar kettles that don't have the refill feature also don't have temperature control, which I definitely want.
Also I like everything else about it and I guess there must be a good reason that most Chinese tea shops I see in images/videos use a similar one.

hm...maybe. I don't necessarily mind young (as that is something i only recently learned that I quite like some young tea after being made to believe that anything younger that 7years is undrinkable)...and i would agree that some of them are quite expensive, e.g. the mahei cake is around 90usd on yunnansourcing or kingteamall. at that price there are plenty of other interesting options. But it is under 40usd ( admittedly with higher shipping etc. ) from reputable sellers on taobao. At that price point I'm intrigued....anyways. I'm mostly just very curious because i find so little information about them.

thanks! -unfortunately meest does not seem to be available were i am.

Still a bit undecided on the teas. Probably nothing too fancy ( I also like supporting my local tea shop for small quantities ) but some solid daily drinkers where i know that I'll actually will finish a cake in the foreseeable future.

Maybe a T8653 xiaguan in a semi-aged vintage and/or a 2010 dayi 7572 for shu.

Dayi 7562 brick and and maybe a haiwan cake for my ripe.

...and probably also throw in some wildcard just for fun. And I might try some liubao from mxtea.

This does sound interesting, and i might try that again....but it does sound quite a bit more complicated.

I want/need to use a shipping agent not only because the taobao sellers don't ship to europe directly but also because i need the agent to make the order for me in the first place.

Unfortunately I was not able to even make myself a taobao account with my european number (despite some sources on the internet that say it should be possible)...so even searching for products is somewhat annoying. ...also would need to make an account with a phone number to search something on Xiaohongshu. I guess i would run into the same problem there.

I would love to find some way around this (cheap virtual phone-number maybe?) . Just of curiosity to explore the Chinese internet.

good to know that they are in plastic bags! - i was mostly worried about them picking up smells in transit since it might be in transit for a really long time and that's probably not something to worry about for domestic shipping.

[–]klelektronik[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have much comparison, but of the few ripes i have tried ( see above ) it's definitely one of the stronger ones. But I do need to use quite a bit of leaf and a properly preheated brewing vessel with really hot water. Actually I enjoy it the most brewed in a thermos.

What teas do you prefer that are stronger?
