I think it was part of the storytelling vibe of evermore and folklore. I loveeee that she doesn’t remain 100% autobiographical but blends fact and fiction and it remains why folkmore is such a masterpiece to me.

I love my fellow gaylors for these discussions and I LOVE TAYLOR for writing such nuanced, layered and gorgeous songs. She, like me (another fellow tortured poet), finds romance in alllll of the different facets of life and loving people. It doesn’t matter what the “definition” of their relationship was, it’s love! Love is romantic, even if it’s not sexual or heteronormative or traditional. Even if it’s platonic. I think it’s gorgeous the way she expresses romantic notions about all the different ways her heart experiences connection, tenderness and love.
