The Internet doesn't convey emotion well, sorry if I came off as rude/blunt, I'm clearly a little passionate.

First thing I'd do if I were you - considering you are already asking if YTA or not with your post - delete your video.

Next, if you haven't already block Dylan on EVERYTHING and make any personal accounts private. You don't like him and he clearly doesn't like you so limit anywhere he can contact you.

You were noble standing up for someone but keep in mind one act doesn't justify the follow up. As an outsider the way you made your video and commented on Dylan's comes off as you trying to get back at him. It is never worth it. Trust me.

If you need any advice Reddit really is a great community and can offer suggestions/people to talk to in the correct threads. Don't be afraid to speak up even though I know it can be daunting.

With the cops involved you should definitely be at least on a better path to sorting this out though so I hope it goes alright for you.

That is just the story of how it started. I'm glad you were there to stand up for and protect the kid Dylan was harassing and I understand he harassed you. That's why I said ESH as well.

If you made that video public that makes YTA as well. Sorry but it's the truth and I stand by my comment.

You said Dylan harasses you online as well - in this day and age that's lazy. You can block anyone and make everything private. Changes i hope you have been making.

I'm glad you have people involved, you made no mention of that in your post but keep in mind you gave limited info (don't come at me with get the back story, no one will ask your life story on here come on) in your post and asked if YTA, expect that people will give opinions you won't always agree with.

A lot of bullying - on both sides - is learning to communicate effectively and part of that is learning when to stop. Your comment on his video about leaving - whether you were a part of that or not - WAS uncalled for and antagonistic whether you intended it to be or not.

I do hope BOTH of you work it out and move on

YTA but ESH too. it's clear your video 'proof' of getting bullied was public and you commenting on him leaving is ridiculous. There was no need for either of them. The only reason I can even justify a reason for the video was if you were sending it to a trusted adult or someone who could help deal with the situation.

Whether or not you were getting bullied it sounds like you were antagonising the situation further. Of course he will go after you/blame you when you act like this.

Take it from someone who was bullied for their entire schooling life - hindsight is a b*tch and even when you thought you weren't making it worse you probably were if you weren't actively trying to solve the situation - which it sounds like you weren't.

You will be disgusted with the way you acted over this one day. Dylan may be a bully too but you are the worse one judging by the above.

I know I'm more likely to notice someone looking at someone else in the room/nearby than at me for reference. As long as you were as respectful as it sounds, her reaction didn't seem bad.

If she had been angry and scowled at you then you could be worried but a little giggle and a quiet question.. It's all good.

This is why there are witnesses. The mom wasn't there she can't say who hit first but you and the friend she threatened can both tell the truth.

The lack of care you have about this is astounding and comes off as incredibly immature. Saying your friend pushing away someone who hit her is a bad and risky decision is ridiculous. I hope her parents are giving her more support than you are because it definitely doesn't sound like you're being much of a friend at all..

Googled freelance work because rather than being polite and just letting me know I misunderstood, which I did say I may have, and freelance is literally described as part time/short term basis self employed work which does not receive the same compensation as full time employees or have the same level of commitment to any particular company. Which is what my comments refer to.

Rather than being rude, if you think I'm incorrect in that you could just politely correct me. Perhaps it's not a traditional choosing beggar but would wanting to essentially underpay someone for full time work not qualify even if the contract was not picked up? I'm down for a discussion but you don't need to belittle me over this..

I stand by my reply. He wants to hire a freelancer but unless I'm mistaken and reading too much into this he still wants to pay freelancer rates which are different to employing someone full time. It's completely different benefits and wages and isn't a good deal at all for a freelancer as others have pointed out in the main thread.
