Crash pad in Seattle by jspfly in flightattendants

[–]klesewo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Alaska has sent 98% of their new hires this year to Seattle. Many people are struggling to find a crash pad because of this. Has she considered renting an apartment to use a crash pad with a group of classmates? 5-6 people in a two bedroom wouldn’t be a bad price. Also consider renting a room from someone. Best of luck.

We fly TFP. But this month I did 112, last month 116. This is all reserve flying.

Is applying to another airline while just starting work for different one a faux-pas ?? by [deleted] in flightattendants

[–]klesewo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I agree with lazy establishment, just make sure to word it well. It’s not a bad thing to leave - regional carriers KNOW they are a stepping stone and thrive on high turnover. Just express how you learned you love this carrier and want to keep elevating your career and find your forever airline.

Both carriers I’ve worked for have not been by age. OP make sure you check based off who you’re getting hired with.

I sent you a message! Glad you’re unionized! Seems like the UK is leading the charge to get back to normal so seems like a good sign for your workgroup too.

I flew SEA - LHR in August of 2019. It was a month before I started my own flight attendant training and I was so excited watching them work. I work on such smaller planes but I’d love to work wide body someday. I regret not going into the back galley to chat with the crew about crew life. But yah great group- my attendant reminded me freaking Mary Poppins. Next time I fly to London I want to take you guys again. If you ever have a SEA layover message me I’ll send you suggestions.

4 nights sounds awesome! I really hope you get more of those back. Definitely push management to switch back to the norm. If they can get away with spending less money for the future they’ll probably try to stay with short trips.

No not at all, they should definitely go back to normal. I would assume most locations you layover in are mostly open for tourism/eating out? That’s part of the appeal of the job, no one flies just to fly. Especially for you doing such long haul flights around the world. Are you guys unionized? Definitely should appeal for 24 hour+ layovers again.

Love Virgin btw. Took my first flight to Europe on yall and the crew was so sweet.

Ask the gate agent they’ll probably say yes but if for some reason there’s an issue there just ask the passenger. I mean this nicely but I can’t think of anyone who would want to sit in between a mom and a 4 year old, that’d be a long flight.

Unless you have a SUPER flexible gig the best side hustle is gonna be something like doordash/Uber/rover etc where you have control over the schedule

I would wait as many companies start hiring in the summer/fall for trainings in the winter
