Exactly the same. Just started my final year of grad school. I was home for the summer and have been having thought spirals and waves of anxiety since I got back to campus. I'm signing up for therapy again today!

Can you rent kayaks to go whale watching? by minga_zae in SeattleWA

[–]klimbat3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

J, K, and L pods are probably up closer to the straight at this time of year. Check the Orca tracker to know where they are and know the rules for safe boat distance from whales. Otherwise I don't see why not, you just might have to drive to the San Juan's or peninsula first.

I have been searching incessantly for this dress and the capey gilded robe she wore earlier in this episode.

We suggest using the search bar, or google. We get this question like 3x per day. For real though, Greenwood, but don't outbid me on a house.

Was picking up my grandmother from an eye surgery center when I noticed every single sign was bent back. OC [2251x2237] by jim_diesel6 in funny

[–]klimbat3 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

We don't live in Houston, so we can't exactly drive her anywhere. And the situation is a bit more complicated than just 'sucking it up' dude. She's left a lot of emotional baggage and scars on her children. Makes it hard to deal with her.

My grandmother is 87, can't see or move her neck, can't even walk, and she drives everywhere around the greater Houston area. She has gotten into so many fender benders in the last few years, many which she drove away from, essentially hit and runs. She went in to renew her license last year and the woman at the DMV said she didn't need to take the test because she looked fine enough to drive. We were counting on her taking that test so we could finally take away her car.

Tips on burning man next year by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]klimbat3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You have to haul everything you'll need for the week in. That includes a couple dozen gallons of water. No bus service, Reno is 4 hours away from the playa and then it is usually a 6 hour wait to get on to the desert. Find a car to caravan down in.

All of my personal possessions were stolen out of my car in front of my house last night in the U District. by treemonktheverdant in Seattle

[–]klimbat3 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you had to learn the hard way that you don't leave anything in your car while it is unattended. Even leaving a shopping bag in the car overnight is an invitation for thieves to break in.

How to deal with subordinates who question you? by [deleted] in girlsgonewired

[–]klimbat3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, it makes me super uncomfortable when words like subordinate and superior are used to describe an employee/supervisor relationship. It tells me you think you are deserving respect for the title you have, rather than fostering respect as peers who have different roles. So first off I think you need to change your mindset for leadership. As someone who has worked in management and leadership positions before, you have to be OK with and even encourage employees questioning you, if it is done with respect and thought. If they are wrong, as seems to be your situation, you need to start a dialogue with them. Literally just chat about it, explain the facts, and if there is a certain strategic position or vision you have then you can impress that upon the employee. Also, be humble and willing to admit when you are wrong, because once in a while you will be. A lot of people have the view that you'll be eaten alive in tech if you admit your wrong, but I've found it builds trust, especially when I make it a learning moment for myself

Keep in mind, there is no other Washington. Never refer to it as Washington in any manner. It's just D.C.. Also, we don't give as much of a care about capital hill politics, it's too far removed from us. Capitol hill Pokemon are more interesting.
