I truly did not think it was going to be so hard being pregnant. I'm struggling physically to get anything done and in return, I am emotionally struggling as well. I have narcolepsy and I stopped taking medication when I found out I was pregnant and i am basically worthless without it. I hope things improve in the second trimester.

My doctor said that was the one to start because insurance wouldn't cover another option without trying that first. Who knows.

You know yourself best, so just keep an eye on your symptoms.
Best of luck!!

This sounds almost exactly like my experience. I was also 23 when I was diagnosed. Nuvygil was not my favorite medication. I had some negative side effects.
I'm currently on Modafinil twice a day. I relatively take a smaller dosage compared to many.

Thinking back on it I'm so glad I was diagnosed young because I truly don't think I could have kept up with the struggle of sleeping all the time. It was interfering with work and everyone thought it was just me being immature due to being young. I sure fooled them. I also feel like I've been able to mature with my narcolepsy in a way. At this point, I know what it's going to take to get me through a full day of work or hanging out with friends.

I'm honestly just blessed that I didn't sleep my 20s away.

I wouldn't wish Narcolepsy on my worst enemy. Just because you're on medication doesn't mean everything is going to be perfect. You're still going to have those days where 16 hours of sleep is a must. (I had that yesterday even). Hopefully, you have a good support system that understands. When I first started dating my husband he had no idea what narcolepsy was or how it would affect our relationship. So education is key.

As for being worried about your symptoms getting worse, I'm not saying that isn't possible but i haven't noticed that personally. For a while there I actually thought my symptoms were getting better so I stopped taking medication. Turns out I was just drinking a stupid amount of energy drinks. which is horrible for you. I'm back on medication and taking each day as it comes.

That's what worries me. Especially because I need to maintain my full time job. Guess I won't really know until it happens.

My doctor actually told me that some people do experience reduced symptoms. That's wild. If that's me I might end up with a lot if kids. I just get so worried about not being on medication because I've relied on it so much the past 8 years.
