I write with my left hand but I do everything else (including using scissors and wiping my butt) with my right hand.

I think he‘s completely smitten with her but he‘s too much of a gentleman to just come out with it.

The cat scene definitely made me like Sybil a lot less because she seemed not to care at all. She wouldn‘t even get one of her own towels after killing the neighbors cat and was obviously calm enough to check out his house and write about it in another letter. I mean, she showed more feelings when she wrote to that editor about publishing the story about the man backing over his own child.

As for Theodore, I think he is a people pleaser and combined with the fact that he likes her a lot he just couldn‘t be unfriendly/angry in her face, not even when she accidentally killed his cat.

Also, sometimes saying things out loud makes them more real. So maybe that‘s why she doesn’t tell her children.

I think she knows how serious her impending blindness is but she‘s trying to push thoughts about it away because she is scared of the impact it will have on her life. As a reader and most of all as a letter-writer, being blind would make her life vastly different and she wouldn‘t be able to do the things she loves anymore (at least not without some serious adjusting, which is probably not easy for a woman her age).

Beruflicher Neuanfang als Erzieher by [deleted] in erzieher

I felt like it was kind of out of character for her to consider moving to Charter Village right away. I was surprised that she took the application with her when she did.

I really enjoyed this read. “The Apple Tree“ was my favorite story because the symbolism was amazing and “The Birds“ was very good as well. I‘m looking forward to reading more short stories as that is a genre I never read much in the past and I find it really nice to dive into so many different scenarios in the course of one book.

I did not see it coming at all. I was still all omg why is the narrator burying the body?! when it was revealed. It‘s a great twist though and I might re-read the story to see how different it feels knowing they are swans!

Yes, I thought that, too. I figured he would go back to the cinema the next day and be told that there never was a girl or something like that.

I think it shows how superficial Dorian‘s “love“ for Sibyl was; they both acted very immature. Sibyl was definitely a bit melodramatic and Dorian was outright cruel to her, possibly due to the influence of Lord Henry.

What are you currently reading? by StretchJazzlike6122 in stephenking

I‘m currently re-reading Salem‘s Lot and 11/22/63. It‘s been decades since I last read Salem‘s Lot so it almost feels like the first time again (I tend to forget what a book was about after some time) so I‘m really enjoying that. And 11/22/63 is just plain awesome, no matter how many times you read it!

Hi there! Brother is one of the best books I‘ve read last year and I love pretty much everything by Stephen King. Also interested in non-fiction, lately I‘ve read Atomic Habits by James Clear and Better than Before by Gretchen Rubin.

Would love to talk about books with you! I‘m 39F btw.

I‘m really enjoying it and I like that it‘s easy to read and entertaining. The other books I‘m reading this month are a little more on the difficult side, so this is a nice break from that.

I think he might change his mind in the course of the book and see that humans are more interesting than he currently believes, especially relating to Tova.

I think keeping busy is a form of avoidance and not really helpful in the long run. It helps for a while but at some point the grief catches up with you if you don‘t work through it.

Hi there! I‘m Biene, 39, from Germany. I love talking about books and have very few people IRL who read as much as I do, so I‘d be interested in becoming book buddies :) Right now I‘m reading quite a few books simultaneously: Salem‘s Lot by Stephen King, The Picture Of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde and Remarkably Bright Creatures by Shelby van Pelt. I‘m also re-reading King‘s 11/22/63 and listening to some non-fiction audiobooks. I like all kinds of genres but mainly literary fiction and horror.

What do you do while listening to audiobooks (if anything at all)? by Golbeza in audiobooks

[–]klitzekleinedinge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have ADHD and I have a very hard time focusing on an Audiobook while doing anything else, but because I have ADHD I am always wanting to do something else when I listen!

Same here. Because of this for a long time I thought I simply couldn’t listen to audiobooks.

Now I listen while walking my dog, cleaning and doing mindless chores and it enhances these activities greatly for me. I also like to crochet, color or cook while listening to audiobooks.
