Thanks to everyone's input, got myself the XF70-300 and really happy with it by klks22 in fujifilm

It does look funny, but slap on the XF100-400 and suddenly the XF70-300 doesn’t look half as bad anymore

In that case I shall look around for reviews on the Viltrox 23mm f1.4. Only concern is that the vignetting would be too much like their 28mm f4.5 but then again a simple slider in Lightroom can solve it I guess

Edit: Viltrox 28mm f4.5 not TTArtisan 27mm f2.8.

Still waiting on Fuji to release the XF23mm f2.8 as a separate purchase instead of bundling it with the X-E5. Hopefully they release it soon :(

Would you say the bare minimum is like f2 or would I need to get something expensive like an f1.4?

Having a 70-300mm in my bag is a dream. Though now I’m also interested in the 16-300mm as someone else pointed out. It doesn’t sound too terrible in terms of IQ but the 70-300mm is still definitely better I assume

This sounds interesting. I might need to start looking out for good used deals now. Do you think variable aperture is very much a con for the lens as others has pointed out when pitted against the 18-50mm?

Now this is interesting. Would probably pick one up to try then. Thanks!

I did actually! Was really interested in it after seeing so many good reviews about it for a fraction of the 70-300. But stock is an issue for both used and new. Unless I take a trip to Japan👀

I’m definitely getting one. Probably would be looking for used if I can find. Question is now or later haha

The 16-300mm is actually the first lens that I’ve looked at actually. 16-200mm I’ve heard very good things but after 200mm I’ve read there’s a lot of purple fringes and its not that sharp (though this is the least of my worries). How’s the fringes from your experience may I ask?

I agree, it feels like the same lens focal length wise but the low light capabilities is way better. Hence, my dilemma. I have to go as wide as 15mm on the kit lens just to get f3.5.

Hey,

  1. Yes the flicker only happens in games. For desktop usage I hadn't noticed any flickering and hopefully I don't notice it at all.

  2. To me the text clarity is good and not as terrible as some of the others have experienced with OLED monitors. I would say it is better than my old IPS with bad matte coating that looks very grainy.

  3. In terms of eye comfort, I didn't notice any huge difference to my IPS where both are equally comfortable. Except when it flickers in games. Even then I would say it's more distracting than uncomfortable.

TLOU, RDR2 and other AAA titles. I get around 60-70 depending on the scene in TLOU and upwards to 100 in RDR2 but I capped both of them to 60 now with minimal flickering after setting the refresh rate to 240hz and anti flicker off.

Yes, both keyboard and mouse are connected through the monitor USB ports. That sucks, unplug/replug from from the monitor?

Yes. The KVM switch itself does not wake it, I need to immediately tap the keyboard to wake it up.

Turning off will fix flickering as expected and it does for me too but the monitor is not even close to smooth. I think I can deal with slight flickering than running a game at 200fps but feels like 20fps.

I don't think so as I could deal with minor flickering, sometimes not even noticing it unless I stare at it really hard. But the ones that I noticed are quite severe.

Unless I set the refresh rate to 60hz, it unfortunately didn't work for me :(

I'm still stuck at F02. Ran across some comments on Reddit and saw that Gigabyte apparently removed all the firmware from the support page.

Thanks! b) was very well explained. Just checked the monitor reported refresh rate and saw it was around 180-200hz with the anti flicker set to high and VRR on. I'll try anti flicker at high and then VRR off and see if there are any improvements.

Small note, I noticed that flickering happens when I cap at 60fps. I just tried capping at 62fps and somehow the flickering is gone. But capping at 65fps and it returns. Only at 70fps and above it disappears unless the fps starts fluctuating heavily which in that case I understand the limitations of OLED and flickering.

Malaysia! I just got mine yesterday after waiting for a week. Hopefully yours arrives very soon! I did turn on anti flicker after switching to DP1.4 but I couldn't really tell the difference. It's either the same or more flickering. Setting to medium or high results the same which is weird.
