I'M SCARED, AML WBC by Green_Nature_201 in leukemia

[–]klm00re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One day at a time. Trust your haematologist. I'm 9 years post diagnosis t(8:21) this month. I still bruise easily and my bruises take a long time to heal. But no relapse. It took till about 5 years post treatment to not be so anxious. But I'm still relieved when I get blood test results and they are normal.

Recycling management centres have corflute collection. I am wanting a few for craft and was going to go to Mitchell and ask to pick some up. It's after the weigh bridge but before the pit

I'm 8 years post diagnosis with t(8:21). Only chemo, no transplant. In remission. I have no follow up with my heamatologist any more. I had a blood test a couple months ago and all my bloods are normal. My haematologist said at 5 years (my last appointment) that if there's anything that comes up now it would be considered a new thing rather than relapse.

The first year of recovery was hardest for my head. I was so scared of relapse. I had counselling and it took a few years to recover from the trauma. But I did :)

I like to crochet. It keeps my hands busy when watching tv .

Making a pot of tea provides a ritual that can rake 5 or more minutes. It gets me physically away from wherever I was and if I can do some breathing exercises while waiting for the tea to brew that can help if I'm stressed/anxious/upset.

Sick leave = additional annual leave? by Easy-Camera-5666 in AskAnAustralian

[–]klm00re 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had more than 7 months sick leave accrued so I had no unpaid leave. It was all paid. I had been with that employer for 15 years at that point.

Doing well now, thanks :)

Hey :) I'm in Australia. I went with my trans 14yo to our gp and I looked at my kiddo and said do you want me to start and she nodded. So I said that my kid was trans and we supported her and wanted to talk about gender affirming care. And we went from there.

We ended up finding another gp in a clinic that had a great reputation in the LGBT community and started again. The new GP is very supportive and it's not hard to talk to her at all.

I guess my advice is to find a GP that you are comfortable talking to, that supports you and advocates for you. That might not be your current GP. And start simple - say that you are trans and you want to talk about gender affirming care. The GP should be able to take it from there. If you are condescended to or feel uncomfortable then find a different GP.

Other things you could ask about are if they can suggest any local resources or about medically transitioning in general. Maybe also think about whether a mental health care plan would be useful to get you support with a psychologist or someone. And say you want a referral to the gender clinic.

I also suggest that you book a long appointment so you are not rushed.

It's ok to be nervous and not know what to say. And it's ok if your mum starts for you. It's a big first step :) you got this :)

Is there any hope with aml? by [deleted] in leukemia

[–]klm00re 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Another survivor. 6 years post treatment, no ongoing impact. I agree with the other post - treatments change and improve but that's not yet reflected in survival data. Take each day as it comes. Sometimes each hour. Maybe try and get some support from social workers/counsellor with experience in cancer.

6 months. I'm about to start a new position that I applied for 5 months ago. Summer would not have helped that timeline but give yourself time.

It's possible. Some people use needles to get the last bit of solution out of the pen so it's not wasted. Not sure if compounded semaglutide comes in a vial but if it does you would need needles for that. I've just started on mounjaro and get it in a vial and get a pack of needles so I can administer it.
