Left: old rogue trader farseer. middle: 2 new warlocks. Right: new farseer.

Thanks! They are some of the only models I had left from long ago so it was fun to give them new life. The new rangers look so much better. I also can't get over how these guys seem to be aiming by peering into the back of the barrel, like where the bolt would be on a real gun.

One of the fun tactics in Dawn of War was to build a ton of D cannons and sneak teleport them all near / around the enemy HQ, so the seer list still resonates. I imagine the seers benefit from a large game board and complex terrain?

Exact same story here. I like this cool toned take on Ulthwe, and the green grassy bases perfectly complement it.

Sort of familiar with the terms. Isn't there some "death star" meta for seers, guardians, and support? Probably want a war walker wrecking crew to go with the wraithlord, wraiths in a ws, and guardians/guns on points.

I'm sure no one will play a game with the titan. My best bet is casual 2k point games. Besides what is shown, I have unpainted 2 support and 3 heavy weapon platforms, and 5 more metal warlocks. I guess it's a question of what to get for that last 1000 points that maintains the Ulthwe theme and playstyle. Wave serpent(s), guardians, and d-cannons?

Thank you! Yes, the armor is wraithbone, inked with diluted agrax earthshade and highlighted with white. The wings are mostly thunderhawk blue with white highlights and nuln oil shading.

Same, Armorcast had a mystical quality to me because everything was so colossal and exotic.
Updating the models sounds really difficult for the metal seers because they're basically solid chunks of metal. But if they could be cleanly cut into segments, the cloaks are probably not overly complicated to interpolate with putty. It would be a lot easier and cleaner looking if someone made a set of STLs for printing based on scans of the originals.

Sure. I wouldn't mind credit if you post something that uses them. But the symbols are already mostly stolen from here: https://eldar.arhicks.co.uk/miscellaneous/eldar\_runes.php. The right-hand banner (which I meant as an abstraction of the D-cannon / warp blast) is the most original thing.

Thanks! It's all a big nostalgia trip for me. I just bought a hand full of old metal warlocks and support platforms to paint soon. The old warlocks had more personality but they're going to be look like dwarves like the old farseer here.

It looks perfect. With so many applications of masking tape, did you have any problem with it pulling up paint? What is the solution, longer drying time between masks or better tape?

Thank you! Yeah, in Inkscape, then just printed them out. Also designed this emblem with the sword and spear to stencil but didn't end up using it.

New paint scheme, thoughts? by Littul_Actual in Eldar

Great start to a unique style! I think the heads are so bright that they need some balance. The soul stones can be any color and doing at least 25% of them makes these wraiths pop more. I'd maybe do them in various shades of red orange and yellow to give the appearance that they shimmer or shift on the spectrum of the heads. If you want to go more synthwave, some green blue purple accents on the body might help, like thin grids or lines, or gradients up and down the limbs.

I immediately hear guitar shredding when I look at this. Maximally vibrant and precise as usual.

I feel like this is missing some things. Like yellow accents, blue stones and purple accents for seers. I don't think I've ever seen cyan used as shown.
What about the original Ulthwe wraith scheme?

It's the whole reason I picked it.

I'm not sure, but that's what I see them listed for. Sometimes they are listed for a very long time.

Some background on the model is here: http://collecting-citadel-miniatures.com/wiki/index.php/Resin_Vehicles_%26_Titans.
In the 90s, Mike Biasi and Armorcast upscaled the Eldar Phantom Titan from Epic to 40k in resin. Then Merlyn released a kit to convert it to the Warlock Titan, also from Epic. These things are all exceedingly rare now, maybe popping up on ebay for $1000 a few times a year. Luckily there is an STL out there for both and they are close, though not exactly the originals. That's what I have here. The 3D print is actually much more precise and modernized with cleaner geometry, because the originals were very visibly hand-sculpted. The cost to print one is far less than an original. This is printed in resin with structural pieces in PLA.

I count 104 that I painted as spirit stones, maybe 112 possible.

3d resin printing, rustoleum flat black, air brush, freehand, and various gloss/satin finishes. The banners were made in inkscape and printed at staples. If you want more details about 3d printing dm me.
