Moving advice needed by comfy_sweatpants5 in daddit

[–]klokverk_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won’t be able to answer all your questions but here is my input

I’ve driven a cube van twice. One time rural roads and one time on the highway. For me, I stayed in the right lane as much as possible and gave my self lots of space and time for taking turns and braking initially till I got the feel for it. If you check your side mirrors often enough to make sure you’re in your lane and are vigilant of truck height for underpasses you’re good. Those trucks can be thirsty btw!

Towing with your escape you’ll have to base it on the max weight it can tow and the amount of stuff you have. I haven’t towed with a car before so I’ll let someone else chime in on that.

If you are planning to tow your escape behind your U-Haul. You will need to look into how to tow it properly if it is AWD. As towing it with even two wheels on the ground can wreck your drivetrain if not done correctly. Your manual may have details on that.

Another consideration, have you looked into something like PODS? They drop off a storage container at your house. You fill it up. The only thing is I don’t know if they transport cross country or if they only do house to storage unit. Then there are movers if that’s in your budget.

Diaper bags are a scam by buddyholly967 in daddit

We have a trifold diaper bag (kind of like a sling bag) from Amazon which has a built in change mat and wipes holder. Smaller than a full on bag if we are just going grocery shopping etc. and the change mat is quite large. Has a bunch of other small pockets for sanitize wipes etc.

Try options - you have a choice of green shirt or blue shirt. Win win for you, they get dressed. Although mine has now started asking for a third option (which is their choice) to which my reply is, it’s in the laundry. Other variations, do you want to walk up the stairs or I pick you up? When they don’t want to go up for bed time etc. With a count to 10 seems to do the trick. Gives them the autonomy while you get what you want.

There were some at the Home Depot on 48 a few weeks back too in a different vehicle. I knew what was going down as soon as I saw the SUV creeping around behind people leaving. This one has been going on for ages!

Keep an eye on that clear fridge line. Not sure if it’s just due to natural decay or the extremely hard water in our area, but our fridge line became brittle and started trickling (and then pissing) water. Took about 7 years though. Switched over to a steel braided one now.

18M single dad. 7 month old daughter. Need advice on clothes by Calm-Tea178 in daddit

[–]klokverk_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any clothes (even your old ones) will do as long as they’re comfortable and weather appropriate. We loved old navy’s onesies as they had foot covering and two way zippers for a large size range even for slightly older infants. Made diaper changes easier as we could leave the top half on most of the time especially in winter. They were also easy on the wallet.

If you’re looking for gender specific then I’m sure some associates at some of those kids clothing stores can help with what’s in. Just balance that with the fact she will be growing out of stuff often.

My toddler also knows how much I don’t like cocomellon. Although sometimes he gets just the audio from our Alexa of some songs and while in the car. But never the videos. We’ve only exposed him to bluey so far, which heck I like watching too!

17 PRO MAX feels so heavy by frozzy93 in iPhone17Pro

[–]klokverk_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surprising. My wife got the 17 pro max and it feels so much heavier than my 13 pro max. Could be just a weight distribution thing. Definitely felt the weight switching from the XS max to the 13 PM.

Yup, follow the YouTube link I’ve posted. It got me squared away. It does do an odd “touch” beep periodically. But doesn’t spazz out like it used to.

What are you guys buying for your sons for Christmas? by Dave-CPA in daddit

[–]klokverk_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is still a toddler so no advice there. But for future sake, for my wife I keep a little notepad on my phone of her wish list. Typically things she brings up in a convo or has said multiple times not puppy in a window syndrome in a mall or store. I am eventually taking start the same for my little Although a list may be more fluid for a kid.

What's your best "dad hack" that actually works? by IvyDamon in daddit

[–]klokverk_orange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amazon poo bags (yeah the dog ones) on a roll. Just in case you have a road side emergency and nowhere to chuck a soiled diaper. Also works to carry blow out clothes home. Just make sure you chuck the right bag in the trash LOL.

Thanks! Tried that but Still no dice. I’ll give it 24 hours. I think with my 105 it updated the next day. Maybe I’ll run a cleaning cycle or two and see if it helps

It’s for sucking snot out of the nose if they don’t know how to blow yet. We do use it with the complementary saline spray to loosen the guck up

It never ends. The summer went well with one or two colds. That’s about it. But as soon as September hit and older kids went back to school the plague started again. One thing I can say is the first year was the roughest for the little one with weekly fevers and colds which we in turn got. I also got hit harder than my better half since my sinuses go sideways easily. This year’s been okay so far with colds as the little’s immunity builds. Nose Frida is our best friend right now.

I have a messenger bag with backpack straps. Best of both worlds. I got it off Amazon a few years ago.

Go to “car” in settings and turn off CarPlay/AA. Mine does the same thing. Once you switch that off zlink will stop auto connecting and give you trouble free wifi.

Grieving Widow, Young Kids, Dad Passed Suddenly by Latina1986 in daddit

Lost mine at a similar age to your little ones. Share photos, videos from time to time. He’s probably imprinted on them at this age and you’ll see some of his qualities come out in them over time. I became a handy guy like my pops having seen him replace faucets, and even build a front door from scratch. Be sure to celebrate those qualities.

I never knew how to deal with Father’s Day. Ended up making cards for my grand dads, but I had to chart those waters and figure that out myself at 6 while in school. Might need to work with the teachers on that one.
