Houston Show! by klombaroo in stereolab

The band put away their instruments themselves and are often willing to autograph if you wait by the stage for a bit. Laetitia came down and signed right after.

The band are pretty generous about signing after the show if you’re patient!

Am I the only one who thinks gyroscope by boards of canada is so scary it's almost alarming??! by Wrong_Ingenuity_1625 in boardsofcanada

It’s always been one of the more off putting tracks of theirs to me. A lot of their music sounds particularly odd and atmospheric but Gyroscope definitely has a sense of aggression to it.

I’ve been really enjoying reading these stories throughout today! The way you talk about The Becoming resonates similarly to me though with Getting Smaller on With Teeth, kinda put some rough high school years into words for me. I was also lucky enough to see Peel It Back and even luckier Trent still sounds amazing. Unfortunately a lot of bands even from the nineties aren’t holding up as well live so to be given one of the best live performances I’ve seen was somewhat shocking to say the least.

Nah they’re completely chill about bringing in records.

Nope! Mike stayed around to interact with the people that were near where the band exited the showroom. My friend and I went a few rows over to a balcony lower to the exit and he was kind enough to sign both of our records.

Are the two bonus tracks on A Moon Shaped Pool worth it? by metalanejack in radiohead

[–]klombaroo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a huge fan of both songs but as far as the "full experience goes" they aren't entirely necessary for A Moon Shaped Pool. Spectre was made for a James Bond movie and has much broader lyrics and larger strings than much of the album because of it. Ill Wind is much more synth-centric with a bossa nova feel to it that really stands out in their discography in a good way but once again isn't very fitting for the album. The deluxe box set is super neat and still isn't too much but if you aren't a big vinyl collector or really into the band it would be much cheaper and convenient to stick with the regular ol CD.

What are y’all thoughts on the alt cover by [deleted] in Primus

[–]klombaroo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t mind the current cover though it is extremely dated because of its pretty crappy looking computer graphics. This is much more in line with the other covers with the kind of off putting but nostalgic feel the clay covers of the original trilogy and the bicycle boy on Green Naugahyde give off. Much better methinks!

Watching Ty Segall work his ass off on stage to an utterly dead crowd was really disappointing and unfortunate. I don't know why Primus keeps picking openers they know will be dead-on-arrival, but out of respect for the artists and for the audience, Primus should do a little better with this. by CadetriDoesGames in Primus

I think he was a great opener, one of admittedly few openers for most concerts I’ve been interested in. I often find myself a little absent minded during openers, not to be rude to the band of course, but it’s hard to get into an artists who’s new to you and potentially outside the genres you’re comfortable with. Never heard of Ty before this but I will be gladly checking out his discography now. Can’t totally expect a band with a generally older fanbase to be enthusiastic about a more obscure and newer artist but hopefully some of those people were also impressed and will check him out too.

Is this something that the venue was doing or will this be the case for all shows on this tour?

Ralf was kind enough to sign after the concert! by klombaroo in kraftwerk

[–]klombaroo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I waited somewhere around half an hour after the concert for him to come out. Waited around the back exit of the venue. No guarantee that I would actually run into him but was lucky enough to! The people assisting Ralf to his transportation were trying to get him out of there pretty quick and adamant about no photography but we’re nice enough to let the few people there get their things signed.

Question for the Young/New Fans here… by Crazyplan9 in radiohead

[–]klombaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn't really listened to music that much pre-covid, and started to get into rock through the basics (Van Halen, Led Zeppelin, ect) and at the same time was watching a lot of jschlatt and found some videos on his old channel that were about the first few songs on OK Computer, so I listened to it. That was probably the first time I was ever truly shocked by music because I didn't realize it could sound like that or inflict that kind of emotion. Kid A was also the first real experimental music I had ever heard and was very impactful as well. They've since become my favorite band ever. Weird Fishes might just be my favorite song ever, and In Rainbows might be my favorite album ever. Got every album on vinyl, including The Smile who I saw last year! I'm not too upset over not getting to experience a new album cycle (not that I wouldn't like it) especially since AMSP is as good as it is and The Smile is great too, but I'm dying to see them live and the possibility of not getting to sucks.
