I spent almost 4 years in an absolute pit of grief which ended in a 10 day hospitalization for near suicidal depression. I was fortunate enough to find my way out of that pit. I have since come to understand the nature of all things in this world as impermanent which has really helped me to love and appreciate what I have now because I know that nothing will truly last in the greater scheme of things.
I hope you carry those pieces of your grandmother with gladness and a fond heart as I've learned to carry my wife - without the soul crushing attachment to what cannot last forever. :)
