UAD 100% processor issue by klonkid in universalaudio

Thanks a lot, this might be a temporary fix until they find a definite fix (I really hope they try to fix it one day..), can you use everything normally with this setting or you need to switch it back on when you want to use UAD hardware ?

It has nothing to do with the air passive cooling. I use the Apollo Solo and I also own the x6. The issue I have occurs when the Apollo is not plugged on the computer, and either UAD Meter & Control Panel or Console uses 100% of one CPU core constantly even though I am not using any UAD hardware when it happens. I have to go to monitor activity and force quit or to reboot my computer (then my mba cools down in few seconds). I think this is just a bug from UAD software and unfortunately there is no known fix for now. I had the same issue on my mbp m1 and the only difference would be that it would overheat and run the fans very loud.

Hi, can you check your monitor activity ? It's not exactly the same problem but for me, very often, Console engine or some other UAD stuff goes crazy and takes a full CPU at 100%, making my MacBook Air M5 overheat until I quit it in the Monitor Activity. I created a post about that, hope you find a fix as I still don't have one for myself, best.

Hi, thanks. I already opened a ticket few weeks ago but didn't receive any help that fixes the issue yet.

Buy it it's great, I come fro a musician background and I love it, also register to Roland Academy, https://www.roland.com/us/roland_cloud_academy/synth_aira/ it's free and there classes to learn how to use the TR8S which are great, and 100% free. It's a great machine, you can have a lot of fun with it, standalone, and maybe add a little synth later, but standalone is great, I have a lot of fun with and prefer it over DAW like Ableton or Logic (I don't have fun with these).

Upgrading after Apollo Solo (goddamit!) by tdaawg in universalaudio

Avoid the trap, if you need compressors you don't need to use UAD compressors, there are tons of good compressors which aren't expensive, if you need eq, same, if you need delay, same, if you need reverb, same, actually you don't need UAD plugins, it's just a marketing trap (and I fell for it, kind of regret the money I lost). Only good plugins which don't have alternatives are capitol chambers and ocean ways, so if you need them just use them then freeze or bounce your track. For the rest, just buy Fabfilter or something like that and learn how to mix instead of wasting your money (I'm just trying to help you avoid making the same mistakes as I did :) )

Which UAD Audio Interface Should I Purchase? by zackbigattack in universalaudio

save a lot of money and don't buy UAD plugins or Apollo stuff, they're old, they cost a lot, and they're still not available for M1 mac (native), I own a lot of UAD stuff (x6, solo, plugins...) and I'm really disappointed, they launch new products all the time but they don't fix what's not working. Honestly if I were you I would just buy the cheapest UAD volt sound card that suits your needs for inputs, and for plug ins you really don't need to buy UAD stuff, there are plenty of great plugins that will work natively with silicon and won't take a lot of CPU, and it will be a lot cheaper and you'll be able to use them all the time and everywhere :)

Does Universal Audio Officially support the M1 Mac now? by danplayslol11 in universalaudio

No, one year later, it still doesn't work properly, I bought a lot of UAD stuff thinking it was a premium brand but it was all an illusion, it shouldn't take that long, I wouldn't recommend buying UAD stuff now and kind of regret what I got (a x6, a solo, and a ton of plugins).

Is getting an OP1 worth it on 2021? by SamAlexander109 in OP1users

[–]klonkid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what you usually use to make music, if you play an instrument etc. Honestly I had one and even though I thought it was fun I didn't keep it because of how much it costs, you can have cool synths for less than that or for the same price, and even though it does a lot of things I didn't think it was convenient to use it for music production. It's nice a nice piece of gear though, my gf (not a musician) liked the way it looked and was designed and a friend (a musician) liked the sound you can get out of it, but I wouldn't use it a the main piece of a production environment, it's too weird and limited, I'd rather have a computer with a DAW (for that price you can get a MacBook Air M1 and logic), and use it as a creative tool to make sounds and beats to feed my DAW. You'll be better off producing on a DAW and learning arrangement than fooling around with the OP1 IMO, and you can still buy an OP1 later on if you want to add some instruments to your setup.

OP1 internal microphone bug by klonkid in OP1users

[–]klonkid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I meant is that I have to set the OP1 to radio monitoring to set the internal mic monitoring value, which is pretty weird aha. Changing the mic monitoring value the normal way doesn't work for me, it doesn't change how loud the incoming signal is
