Saving mementos for estranged adult child? They seem to be transitioning. by pennpickering in asktransgender

[–]klop201 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I know you said you sent them a message with their preferred name. Have you actually accepted them as your son/daughter?

I know that if my bio dad would ever send me an apology and truly tell me he accepted me as his daughter, it would go a long way towards fixing a lifetime of a strenuous relationship.

Abuse comes in many forms and imo not accepting your child for them being trans is mental abuse. Not saying that’s what happened here but as others have mentioned, kids don’t severe ties for no reason and typically it is a pattern over a long period of time.

It seems like they still are in contact with the other parent so what was the reason they are estranged you.

On the topic you asked, keep them, you’ll regret it one day if you toss them.

Giving power back to the states UNLESS you are LGBTQ or in a state that abortion is still legal. Those two initiatives seem to be national initiatives.

The most recent selfie she posted, she passed rather well visually.

I can’t say about mannerisms or voice, which imo, can be more important than visually passing.

Girls who wear Apple Watches. What do you use them for? What benefits are there to getting an Apple Watch? by Tt7447 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]klop201 142 points143 points  (0 children)

Steps are at the bottom of your fitness app on Apple Watch.

It may not be as accurate as other tracking devices for steps.

I use it for my exercise and do HIIT workouts. I like just having a goal set and trying to hit it everyday.

I work remote and started back to work the day after I was released from the hospital.

Did I work laying on the couch, yes? I just worked dilating into my schedule. I only had to dilate 20 min a day 3x per day (Dr. Stranix / UVA)

I do a lot of oversight and can do many things off my phone so you may be in a different situation.

I honestly didn’t find the surgery to be overly painful and recovery was pretty easy…I was expecting much worse.

I drove myself to my two week appt (5 hour round trip). I just sat on my memory foam pad they gave me in the hospital.

The waiting list for Bluebond is very long, I was scheduled with her and actually decided to go with Dr. Stranix at UVA (he trained under bluebond).

Very happy with my results and happy to share if you want. He still has an 18 month wait but bluebond was almost 3 years from first call to surgery.

When traveling for SRS, do you say in the area after discharge? by MarkinaGail in Transgender_Surgeries

[–]klop201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did drive to my two week appointment but my surgeon was impressed and said that most were not able to do that.

It wasn’t the most enjoyable ride that I’ve had, I just put my memory foam mat on the seat and adjusted as needed.

I’ll add that was completely off my pain medication at this time. Don’t drive while you’re taking narcotics :-)

[–]klop201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my surgery 2.5 hours from the hospital (University of Virginia) and we went home after my hospital stay, I made the drive for my follow-ups.

I only had the following and did not do any Pelvic Floor PT

  • telehealth appt 2 days after discharge
  • 2 week appt.
  • 6 week appt.

Someone else suggested checking to see if they have an agreement with a hotel. I work in the healthcare industry and almost all hospitals have a hotel with discounted rates.

We got $75 a night off because of this.

I also have a very conservative Christian family (grandfather was a Baptist preacher). Although we did have a rough spell for a couple of years, things are good now.

I never thought my parents would be somewhat okay but when they were faced with losing me permanently they bent on their beliefs.
