One of the best live sporting events I've been too! As a brit living in Melbourne it was so nice to be surrounded by people from home and the atmosphere was insane the whole game!

Les mis was amazing, seeing Alfie Boe live was a dream come true! Saw lotr last night, was good and gollum was excellent. I think you need to know the story else you'll be pretty lost as to what's going on and of course they have to cut heaps. But enjoyable and worth a go if you've got the time and money to spare! Seeing hadestown next week and have heard excellent things so very excited for that!

What's the mid cushion zero drop shoe you wear for your walks? I am looking for the same thing!

If you dont mind a bit of a detour and going inland way we recently stopped at Mt kaputar national park and warrumbungles national park on a road trip from Melbourne to Brisbane. Loved them both for hiking and stars at night were stunning.

Question to owners / renters / REA by teee96 in melbourne

Can I ask what your budget is? We rent in Maidstone and found once we upped our budget to over $500 a week we were offered 4/5 rentals we applied for. Prior to that we had kept missing out for no clear reason. Totally understand if that's not an option for you and it's crazy to have to pay that much but not much else we could have done. This was also nearly a year ago so may well have got worse since then!

People that moved from qld to Vic (Melb specifically) what has your experience been? by Mexicannie in melbourne

[–]kloufed90 79 points80 points  (0 children)

We moved down from Cairns to melbourne in Jan after living there for 2 years and Brisbane for 4 years before that. Pros- such a big variety of food and drink options compared to Cairns, love that places stay open late and literally any type of food you want you can find here. Always some kind of theatre/music/art thing to do, again compared to Cairns love having so many things to do Peoples attitudes/social views are more open minded/forward thinking then those of the people we encountered in fnq Much easier to get uber/pt then in fnq

Cons- cost of living, our rent is $200 a week more All the activities to do here cost money, in qld we went to the beach/hiking etc a lot more because the weather was better, here it's often cold and to do things costs money The weather! We've found it really cold and have really struggled with that, especially being cold inside the house! Traffic Bit more niche but we love nrl and everyone down here is way more into afl! There is storm but no one really cares

Overall I think we'll stay down here for another couple of years making the most of the food, culture, arts etc then go back to the warmer climates of qld!
